“What? Why?”
“Because, Rohan!” I sigh.
“Don’t give it to me because you feel bad for me, Tyson,” he fumes.
“What are you talking about? I’m not!”
“I shouldn’t have told you all that stuff last night,” Rohan mumbles, looking down at the rare metal in his hand.
“It’s not that. Jeez, just take it, Rohan, please,” I sigh before turning and walking away, back to the town. I don’t want him to try and give it back. Can’t believe he thinks it’s out of pity. No.
That’s not it.
At all.
Chapter 17
Rohan
We get back early, just as Tyson promised. Thank God, because I’m still so tired from the last few days and drinking last night after so long of not doing it. My limbs feel like jello, and I think it’s time we put that basin to use. We climb the stairs and head down the hall to our room. Tyson steps in first and pulls his cloak off his back.
“Ty … I wanna take a bath.” I don’t know why that comes out so damn quiet, like I’m scared or something. Cause I’m most certainly not. Everything’s just been so weird with Tyson lately. It’s annoying. Maybe I’m getting him and Zero mixed up. Though, they are the same person.
“Alright, so take one.” And that’s my reminder of just how different they are.
“No, not with you in here! Wait downstairs!”
“Rohan, I’m fucking exhausted from leveling your ass all day. I’m not sitting outside while you wash up. Just do it!” Tyson sighs, rolling his eyes at me.
A beat goes by with us just staring at each other, and if I had the energy, I would definitely yell and fight with him, but I really can’t take it right now.
My ears feel hot. “Can … Can you please just wait outside?”
Tyson’s brows shoot up so high I think they’ll reach his hairline. Now I’m super fucking embarrassed. I should have just shouted at him. I shift on my feet when he steps closer to me and leans down, “Alright, I hear you.”
My shoulders sag in relief when he finally leaves the room, a sigh passing through my lips.
I start to remove all of my clothes after filling the tub with hot water the innkeeper brought up. I guess he told her I wanted a bath. When my skin finally meets the water, my body feels like it will melt away completely. I lean my head back against the lip of the basin, taking a deep breath.
This feels so fucking nice. I could die just like this.
I jolt up when I hear the door creak open. Tyson glances my way before holding a piece of cloth up to use as a towel, probably.
“You forgot this.” He chuckles, laying it across the bed before heading back into the hallway.
My cheeks feel like they’ve been under the sun for too long. I hate the way I’m becoming around Tyson. Whatever this is. It needs to end today. He has me so out of my element. I could’ve definitely taken the bath with him in the room. It’s not like I haven’t done it before with guys in locker rooms. But I don’t know, it just felt too much.
I felt shy.

Tyson returns to the room as I’m drying off my hair. So glad I’m fully clothed and decided to do this last. He eyes me for a bit before padding over to the basin and starting to strip off his clothes.
“What are you doing?” I scoff.
“Taking a bath. You’re not the only one,” Tyson says, pulling his shirt over his head and his pants down quicker than I can register.
“Well, wait! I can leave first!”
