LAINEY:
Oh okay! Well, I hope it helps you.
LEXIE:
Me too. Thanks.
LAINEY:
YW! See you tonight.
I pocket my phone and decide to take a half.
There is still a few minutes before class starts so I peek around before using the edge of the desk to cut it in half. I know she said to take it with food, but it’ll have to wait. I need something now.
I pop it in my mouth and cringe at the god awful taste.
I should really start carrying around a water bottle.
CHAPTER 2
REED
Watching Lexie has quickly become my favorite pastime.
I know that she suspects someone has been following her.
She’s like a skittish little mouse, looking over her shoulder constantly checking to see what or who’s hiding in the dark.
If only she knew that I’ve been biding my time, waiting on the perfect moment to make myself known. It just hasn’t been the right moment yet, but I feel it coming.
Getting closer just in ear shot behind a pillar, I listen to her and Lainey’s whispers, catching bits and pieces of the conversation.
I would get closer but don’t want to risk being seen by Lainey. I don’t think she is aware of my obsession with her friend, but they will all find out soon, hopefully sooner than later.
Catching the part about my Honeybee meeting Lainey tonight at five, I smile to myself.
It’s time.
I shoot Kalix a quick text.
REED:
I’m coming over tonight.
KALIX:
Why?
REED:
You’ll see.
KALIX:
It better not be for some weird shit.
I start to type again, but before I finish he sends another text.
