She lets out a slow breath and looks down at his chest. “This only confuses me further.”
“Then I’ll make it less confusing.”
“How?”
“I’m going to break my promise, Val.” He knows he told her he wouldn’t touch her, but he can’t help it. Especially when she looks so lost and flustered. He places his fingers under her chin and lifts it, forcing her to look back up at him. “I’m going to kiss you. Do you want me to kiss you?”
Biting her bottom lip for a second, she nods, and a grin spreads across his face. He leans down and kisses her. The kiss is a soft kiss at first, exploring. His hand cups her cheek, and her arms wrap around his waist. She sighs into his mouth and relaxes against him. She tastes so fucking good. So good. How could he not remember this? How could his mind have blacked this out? The way her lips fit against his, the way her breath fans his cheek, the way she smells as she eagerly opens for him?
“Does that make it less confusing?” he asks, resting his forehead against hers.
“A little.”
“Do you want me to do it again?”
Her bottom lip slips between her teeth again, and she nods. He smiles for a second and then kisses her again. This time, it’s more urgent because, now that he’s had a taste of her, he can’t get enough. His hands shoot up to her hair, and he winds his fingers into it. Tilting her head back, he deepens the kiss. Her hands snake under his coat and shirt, and she grips the skin on his back.
This isn’t how he thought tonight would go, but he’s not complaining. He hadn’t realized what he’d been missing. However, even though she confessed her love for him, he isn’t there yet. That doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy his time with her, though.
Reaching blindly behind her, he opens her door and backs her inside.
