Wayne nods his head and makes his way into the office. He perches himself on the corner of the oak desk, disturbing a stack of papers. “You wanted to see me?”
He had informed Val to tell Wayne to come to his house when she went over there to clean it. By the smell of Wayne, he had been given cinnamon rolls, too. He briefly wonders if Wayne knows that she cleans his house and feeds him because she has a thing for him. Everyone but Wayne seems to notice. She was never given the duty to care for the beta. She chose to, and by the way she flirts with him, he knows the reason for it.
Putting those thoughts aside, Logan leans back in his office chair. “Any news on the territory issue?”
Wayne shakes his head. “They haven’t been near the border since the last time we spoke on the matter.”
“Good,” he says softly, though it’s a strange occurrence. Why continuously push the boundaries if only to suddenly stop? Logan doesn’t have the answers to his question, but he’s grateful he doesn’t have another problem on his hands. “Keep an eye on it, will you?”
“I’ve already told Draven to keep the wolves on high alert and to recruit a few more wolves to the duty.”
“Good,” he says again. He thinks the conversation is finished, but Wayne lingers while pursing his lips. “Anything else?”
“I heard about the issue with Becca yesterday.”
Logan sighs and runs a hand down his face. Pack gossip spreads like wildfire in the Brook Mountain Pack. “She attempted to take down Eme.”
“I’m guessing she didn’t succeed.”
“No, thank God.” If Eme wasn’t a strong alpha, albeit slightly timid, he’d have another problem to deal with. A pack won’t follow a leader who isn’t up for the task, which is another reason he didn’t mate with Becca. Many other women in the pack could have challenged her and won.
“She’s still itching at the matter.”
“Who, Becca?”
Wayne nods. “She’s gathered her friends to side with her.”
“Great. Just great.”
“What do you want me to do?”
Logan thinks it over. Right now, it’s not a huge problem. “Leave her be, for now. This is a matter that Eme will have to deal with or win over.”
“I agree,” Wayne says. He adjusts his seating on the desk then picks up the letter opener and twirls it in his fingers. “How is that going, by the way, the Eme situation?”
The Eme situation. He almost laughs. “Not so good.”
Wayne leans forward and slaps Logan on the shoulder. “You have to woo her, man.”
“Woo her?” Logan grins at the old-fashioned term. As if it’s that easy.
“Yeah, man. Bring out the romance.”
“And you’re the expert on the matter?”
“Well, no.” He shrugs. “But yes.”
Logan places his elbows on his desk, work forgotten. “What do you suggest I do then?” After all, he has no idea what to do. He’s never had to do anything to make a woman swoon before. They just came to him. Perhaps some advice would be good.
Wayne grins until almost all his teeth are visible. “Here’s what you do.”
