He lowered his head to lick her nipple before sinking his fangs into her breast. The bliss that came from nourishing him swiftly replaced the fleeting pain.
Her heels dug into his ass as she rode him faster, and their love for each other consumed them.
CHAPTER EIGHTY-EIGHT
Over the next two weeks, Lexi worked with the others to put the finishing touches on her dress and plans for the wedding while keeping the realms running as smoothly as possible. It wasn’t always easy, considering many immortals could be pretty bitchy if they didn’t get their way, but it was worth it.
When her wedding day finally arrived, she could barely believe it and kept waiting for something to go wrong. It had taken them so long to finally get here, but soon, she’d marry Cole, and they’d start a new phase of their lives together.
Barely able to contain her excitement, she shifted from foot to foot as she walked with her bridesmaids to where they’d meet the rest of the wedding party. All around her, the beautiful gardens she’d helped bring back to life teemed with color.
The branches of the trees surrounding them arced downward; she could almost stretch her hand up to touch one of the boughs that would make a perfect seat. The red and orange leaves filling the trees burned brightly in the setting sun.
She’d chosen this section not just for the large clearing up ahead that provided enough room for all their guests but because of these sweeping, beautiful trees. Their leaves hung down from the branches, creating a soft curtain that brushed her skin when she moved.
Music filled the air as birds flitted from one branch to another. Maybe it was her, but the multicolored avians were singing louder today, and their song was beautiful.
All the dragons of the realm had come out for this, not only to ensure she stayed safe but also because they were excited to watch the ceremony. The sun glinting off their bodies illuminated their brilliant colors as they dove and rolled through the sky.
Her first wedding dress was beautiful, but the brownies had created a masterpiece with this one. The bodice was ivory with a sweetheart neckline, but the strands of orange and red interweaving the skirt and off-the-shoulder bell sleeves made it appear as if parts of the dress caught fire when she moved.
Her bouquet of red and orange flowers matched her dress. Sahira and Kaylia had pulled her hair back and secured it with the beautiful dragon headpiece that belonged to the arach before her. It was now hers… something she was still getting used to.
They’d styled her hair so that curls fell past her shoulders to her back. Interwoven throughout the curls were small white flowers.
When they rounded the corner, her dad, Orin, Brokk, Varo, and Maverick came into view. Her dad’s eyes widened before tears bloomed in them, and the others grinned.
Her dad rested his hand over his heart as she stopped beside him. “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you nervous?”
The others stared expectantly at her when he asked this question, and she grinned at him. “I’m too excited for that.”
He beamed back at her as the music started playing from where all their guests and Cole waited ahead but the bend in the pathway kept them obstructed from view. When her dad held out his arm, she slid hers into it. He locked it against his side before bending to kiss her cheek.
Orin, Brokk, Varo, and Maverick all came closer; she’d seen all the women throughout the morning and day but hadn’t spoken with any of the men yet. They’d been too busy with Cole.
“You look beautiful, little sis,” Orin said.
“Did you ever see us ending up here when we first met?” she asked.
“When we first met?” He chuckled as he shook his head. “Oh, no. I thought we’d end up trying to kill each other.”
She looked at where Sahira waited in her steel gray bridesmaid dress with flowing sleeves that made it look like she wore a cape from certain angles. The halter neckline emphasized her figure.
When Lexi shifted her attention back to Orin, her smile remained, but an edge entered her tone. “I still might try it.”
He kissed her temple. “I’m glad to have you in the family.”
“I’m glad to be part of the family.”
After Orin walked away to claim Sahira’s arm, Brokk, Varo, and Maverick strolled over to kiss her on the temple and welcome her to the family. When the music changed, it was their cue to start the procession.
Maverick and Elsa walked down the pathway together, around the bend in the trees, and vanished. Varo and Pip went next, with Pip carrying a small bouquet and her dress skirt.
The brownie hadn’t quite known what to do with the fancy dress, but she’d happily agreed to be Lexi’s bridesmaid when she asked. They’d grown close over the weeks of working together, and while the other brownies had all settled into their new realm with their families, Pip was often in Dragonia.
