“Were you watching me dance Wednesday night?”
The question completely catches me off guard, and I debate how to answer her.
“Yes,” I answer truthfully, hoping it doesn’t freak her out that I was watching without her knowing.
“I knew that night you were,” she smiles.
“How?” This was not the reaction I was expecting.
“I felt you,” she shrugs like it’s as easy as that.
“Do you make it a habit to dance in the middle of the night on a live feed?”
“Sometimes, when I get inspired,” she laughs. “I like to record myself so I can analyze it later.” She bites her bottom lip, and I can tell she wants to say more. “It was you who inspired me that night,” she admits softly. “The dance just started to form in my head, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I released it through movement. It doesn’t surprise me that it found its way to you. It’s yours,” she says simply.
I swallow down the lump in my throat and stare out of the front window as images of her dancing flood my mind again before I turn back to meet her gaze.
“I knew it was mine.” Her smile widens when she realizes I picked up on it. “It was beautiful, Luna. The way you dance…” I smile and shake my head as I look away. “I couldn’t take my eyes off of you,” I admit softly. “The ending, though…” I laugh dryly, meeting her eyes and letting her see my truth. “I don’t know if I’ll ever get to that point where I can let it all go.”
If anything, she deserves my honesty.
“You’re stronger than you know, Cayden,” she whispers. “Life’s not about staying in control, hoping you can stop the bad from happening. It’s about knowing that it might…and still choosing to live anyway.”
She makes it sound so easy.
Like letting someone in again wouldn’t be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.
My eyes drop to her lips before I can stop myself.
Because I know without a shadow of a doubt…if I let go, even just a little…
It’s her I’ll be risking it all for.
SIXTEEN
LUNA
After a quick shower to wash away the sweat and grime of the club, I slide into my bed, exhausted from today, but still not able to shut my mind off completely.
Cayden Blade has decided to take permanent residency in my brain, and I haven’t been able to figure out a way to evict him.
That man is likely to bring me to the brink of insanity if I don’t figure out a way to coexist in the same room with him without wanting to tear his clothes off. And after tonight, there is no doubt the feeling is mutual.
My body responds to the memory of him pressed up against me, every hard inch of him fitting perfectly against mine.
And that kiss…God, that kiss was amazing. I could kiss those lips forever, and it would never be enough.
I shift on the bed and press my legs together to stop the ache that wants to form. The shower may have washed away the evidence of the club on my body, but it didn’t come close to washing away Cayden’s touch from my skin.
I still feel him everywhere.
Closing my eyes, I give in to what my body wants as my hand slides down my stomach and slips into my lace thong. I’m already wet and beginning to throb as I touch myself.
My back arches as I moan from the contact. His image burns behind my eyelids as I imagine it’s him that’s touching me. I usually need a toy to get off by myself, but tonight, his presence in this room is enough to have me panting from my touch alone.
The ding from my phone is abrupt and pulls me out of my fantasy.
I’m going to kill Connor.
