It feels the same, yet different.

Neither outshines the other, but both are equally powerful.

It’s as if my soul was once whole, then suddenly torn in half.

Leaving behind an emptiness so big that I thought nothing in this life would ever be strong enough to touch it.

And then you find it.

Someone who fills it.

And suddenly, that void…that part of your soul that you thought was lost…

Returns.

And little by little, you become whole again.

But I also remember how that emptiness feels and will do anything to never feel it again.

Saying how I feel aloud makes it real.

It makes it into something that can be taken away.

I slowly lift off of her and pull her to my side. Throwing the covers over us, I spoon her from behind, where I feel safer.

“Cayden,” she whispers, and my grip tightens around her waist.

I know what she’s feeling…

I know what she needs to hear, but the words die on my tongue.

Breathing in her scent, I bury my nose in her hair and give her what I can for now.

“I feel it, Luna,” I whisper. “I just…I need more time.”

“Then take it,” she says softly. “I’ll be here when you’re ready.”

My heart squeezes painfully in my chest as her hand finds mine, and our fingers intertwine.

I wish I were stronger.

I wish I weren’t afraid to love again.

But the cold, hard truth is…

I can’t outrun it anymore.

I’m in love with Luna Bennett.

I guess the question now is…

What the fuck am I going to do about it?
