As the ride made its next slow ascent, his hand brushed up my leg, dancing along, barely grazing my skin. My breath stuttered. The air rushed past us, but all I felt was him. His mouth found my neck. I threw my head back and moaned as his lips trailed kisses down it.

His warm, wet lips sent shivers through my body. He moved his hand up further, fingers pressing, circling, and teasing me. I inhaled sharply. My body chased the sensation as he explored me.

In no other scenario would I have thought I’d beg him to touch me intimately like this. His firm fingers found my clit through the jeans. All I could feel was the steady rhythm of his hand and the way my body responded to it.

Each twist of the track sharpened everything. With a rocking motion, I pushed harder, seeking more. Soon I was panting. My focus narrowed in on the feeling of him touching me. Embarrassingly, the fabric covering me became damp under his fingers.

It felt so fucking good as he moved his finger from side to side against the seam. God, what would it feel like if his fingers were directly on it? Once more, we plunged down at the speed of light.

He gripped my pussy, and I pushed my ass up to get closer. Another scream tore from my throat as he continued to rub me. The car shot down and curved tightly to the right as it accelerated. I forgot all about my fear of heights as he teased me throughout the ride.

How he kept his hand firmly in place the entire way was beyond me. I could only hope the several moans that tore from my throat were concealed by the screaming coming from the other passengers.

The combined sensation of weightlessness, exhilaration, and his fingers left me breathless and feeling so alive. I was hovering over something. Something beautiful.

Was this living?

And then, too soon, the ride was over. The coaster ground to a halt with a jolt that startled me from the brink of coming. I was so fucking close. I wanted to scream. The safety bar lifted, and reality snapped back into place.

I had no choice but to take his hand. The same one that was moments ago between my legs, unraveling the hell out of me. I wobbled as I stepped onto the ground. Taking several deep breaths, I attempted to regain my composure while Pasha guided me out of the exit area.

Note to self, pencil in over the clothes petting to number eight and then check the damned thing off the list.

“There you guys are,” Lisa exclaimed, rushing over to us.

I still couldn’t bring myself to look at Pasha. What the hell had come over me? What was I thinking?

From the moment we stepped off the roller coaster, Isabella’s whole demeanor changed. The glow was gone. The wild, breathless moans. The flushed cheeks. The spark in her eyes. All of it evaporated. In its place there was something tight and guarded. I didn’t need a fucking neon sign to tell me what it was.

Regret.

Fucking bloody hell. We’d gone too far. Who needed Marcel for accountability? I could take a picture of her face right now and save it as a reminder for the next time desire overruled my common sense.

I wanted to pull her into me, kiss the crease between her brows, and tell her it was okay. But instinct told me if I tried, she’d stiffen. Maybe even step away. And that would make this whole situation worse.

There were eyes on us. Chase was walking backward in front of us.

“Lisa’s starving. Let’s head back, change for dinner and game night. Isabella, we’re thinking we’ll play with the cards tonight.”

Her head snapped up, and she gulped.

“Yeah. Okay.”

It wasn’t okay. None of this shit was okay. We started the walk back, the boardwalk noisier now, lights flickering. With each step she took, she retreated further into herself.

“Did you have fun today?” I asked, trying to break the ice.

Nothing.

“It was the perfect weather, right?”

I reached for her hand and, surprisingly, she let me take it. Instant relief coursed through me. It was short-lived. I squeezed. She didn’t squeeze back. Just gave a small shrug and a distant nod, her gaze fixed somewhere ahead.

Strike one.

“The intensive tomorrow,” I tried again. “You still want to come?”

Silence followed.
