She drew away. “You’re good at what you do.”

“Thanks.”

“I think Gwen’s tired too. She yawned through the last half hour of our conversation.”

Nate glanced Gwen’s way and grinned as his sister’s mouth opened in another yawn.

Callie frowned as she looked around. “Where’s Liam? I’ve hardly seen him at all tonight—just for a couple of minutes when Molly and I first got here.”

Nate looked toward the house, spotting Liam with his cell phone at his ear, pacing back and forth in front of one of the kitchen windows. “He’s usually pretty busy—VP of sales for one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies here in the Northeast. His job keeps him going more than it doesn’t.”

Callie’s eyes wandered toward the kitchen window. “I doubt we’ll see him at this point. It’s just about time to go home.”

Nate looked over at Gwen again, watching her yawn for the third time. “I’ll take you whenever you’re ready.” Although he didn’t want to drop her off yet, especially now that they were talking and enjoying each other’s company. But picking up where they left off last night probably wasn’t the best idea after their conversation in the woods this morning.

“Maybe we should think about going now,” Callie suggested.

He nodded. “Sure.”

“I have some frozen yogurt in the freezer if you want to stay for a while.” She stood and offered him a hand. “I can make us dessert.”

He took it and gained his feet. “I’ll probably pass tonight.”

“All right.”

“Let’s go say goodbye.”

She nodded.

He wrapped his arm around her waist, ready to drop Callie off and get the torture of leaving her at her doorstep over with.
