“That life’s still here,” he said quietly, pressing his lips to her forehead. “This is going to be okay. We’re going to make it okay.” He kissed her lips this time.

She nodded.

“I’m glad you’re tapping into your creativity the way Matthew suggested. I can’t see your lamp the way you can yet, but I know Gwen’s going to go crazy over it.”

Another small smile touched her lips. “Creating makes me happy. When there’s no pressure and I get to do it because I love it.” She brushed at his hair still damp from his shower. “And you. You make me happy.”

“Good. You should bring your stuff over here—set up your studio in the garage. I know I’ve mentioned it before—”

“Okay.”

He raised his brow. “Okay?”

She nodded. “The lighting’s better, and I’m always afraid I’m going to ruin the cottage’s pretty wood floors.”

“All right, then.” He stood, more than a little surprised she’d given in so easily when he’d been expecting her to find a reason to refuse. “I’m going to let you get back to it. I’ll wait for you on the couch—maybe find something on TV.”

She stacked her papers and put the pencil back in the drawer. “I’ve done all I can for now. Let’s go snuggle up so you can doze off before we’re halfway through whatever we decide to watch.”

He grinned. “You act like that happens all the time.”

“Every night you’re home with me.” She kissed him. “And I love it.” She shut off the light and kissed him again. “It’s normal.” She wrapped her arm around his waist as they walked down the hall.
