“You bloody scared us, you fit asshole, ” Mia cried; her Sussex-style English accent pulled straight down to Cockney-slang. “What’re you doing behind there?”
Lilly giggled, and I took the chance to let my eyes roam all over her. She was wearing a white tee, and on it was a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt plastered to her chest. It was tucked into a black mini-skirt with pink and white stripes on the side. The outfit was skin-tight, clinging to her soft breasts, flat stomach, slim hips and curved ass. Her skin was painted blue, her face outlined with makeup that framed her green eyes and plush lips. Despite the rainbow-colored wig on her head, she was the sexiest blue woman I’d ever seen.
“Nikki and Tristan are at a gallery show. They left me in charge.”
Mia’s hands lifted to adjust her long, red wig.
“Of course they did. Listen, we need some food. This one–” she pointed at Lilly “–ate the last pop tart, and I’m starved. I can’t survive this party without something in my stomach.”
Lilly smothered a yawn. “And I really need a coffee. I’m running on empty.”
I folded my arms and sighed. I was exhausted. The shop was supposed to be locked tight by now. But what else was I going to do? I wasn’t going to let them starve.
I turned and flicked on the coffee machine, letting the noise fight against the whooping and squealing they were doing in front of the counter.
Mia’s glance traveled along my frame as I picked up the tray of leftovers and started unwrapping it. “Well, well. The famous Shawn Jackson. The same man who knocked our Stacey back.”
I fought against tightening my grip. I didn’t want to squash their pastries.
“You get fitter and fitter each time I see you, Shawn.”
“Thanks,” I grumbled.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more of you at South Bronx when we start working together.”
Dread pulled and twisted my organs, and I flicked my glance to Lilly, desperate to talk about anything else. “What’re you supposed to be, anyway?”
Lilly let out a fake scoff and looked down at herself. “Isn’t it obvious?”
It was. I couldn’t be friends with Lilly Fares and not know every one of her childhood obsessions. But I couldn’t help it. I was aching to tease her.
“You’re Smurfette on a rave night?”
This time her scoff was real. “I’m Rainbow Dash. And Mia’s Ariel.”
“Well, her mermaid tail was a bit of a giveaway, but I had no idea who you were supposed to be. Is that a rainbow coming out of your ass?”
“Oh Shawn.” Lilly leaned over the counter to shove my chest as I laughed. “It’s a tail, you doof.”
“Show me?”
She turned and bent forward, shaking her delicious, plump ass. A rainbow tail was tied to her waist, swaying. I was transfixed, making out the shape of her under that fabric, feeling my cock swell in my jeans.
I didn’t realize Mia hadn’t taken her huge brown eyes from me.
She cleared her throat, snapping my attention away. “Lilly makes an incredible Rainbow Dash, doesn’t she?”
My mouth hung as Mia’s stare turned smug. I cleared my throat. “Yeah. You both look great.”
She tsked at me. “Well thank you, but Lilly definitely looks sexier, don’t you think? Look at those blue legs. I bet Trevor’s going to spend the entire night drooling after her.”
A jealous prickle raced through me. “Trevor?”
As Lilly bent over the counter and picked out a few pastries, Mia inched closer.
“He has a thing for Lilly, you know. Why else would he be hoping for a spot at South Bronx? I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t make a move on her tonight.”
My spine snapped straight as my glare burned into Lilly’s painted face. “Is that why you’re going to some party when you should be studying? So some guy can slobber all over you?”
