He paused again, his thumb stroking the top of her hand. In a soft voice, he continued. “I ached for a connection, to experience even a tiny bit of the bond I’d experienced with Glenna. Imagine my surprise to find all that with you. Someone I have been tasked with protecting. Your safety must come before anything. Our feelings, the bond growing between us, our selfish desires. Even love.”
“Oh, damn this war,” she cried as she shoved another piece of cake in her mouth and chewed angrily.
The corner of his mouth quirked with amusement. Gillian had more of a temper than Glenna. But sadly, it was time to put her behind him, as Gillian could well be his future. “I agree. But it is the world we live in. Do you see your safety must come first?”
“Yes,” she replied as her lower lip pouted. “But I’m not happy about it.”
“Neither am I.” He picked up the teapot and filled their cups. “Now, I wrote to Fred stating I would escort you as soon as possible to Brighton. I have the fisherman’s name and location.” He glanced at his watch. “I would guess it will take about four hours for a reply to reach us. It will contain the rest of the plan. I am assuming we will leave under the protection of darkness, but possibly not. Whatever Fred advises, we will do. Agreed?”
Her brows furrowed as she sipped her tea. “I agree, but I have a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.”
“Banish your fears. We will prevail. Here is the hard part.” Luke reached for another mince tart. Might as well eat the food. “As I stated earlier, there can be no contact with anyone once you are settled. Not me, your sister, no one here in England. Your only contact will be your handler in Nova Scotia. They will let you know when contact is allowed or if and when you can return. But I doubt they will even consider the prospect until well after the war is over. Until then, you must accept your new identity and move forward. Agreed?”
“Yes. Agreed.” She laughed sharply. “I thought all this was behind me. I was back in England, had a good job, learning to live again and be comfortable in my own skin. Now this.”
“The hazards of being a spy. Even an ex-one. Now, be a good girl and eat your cake and drink your tea.”
“No.”
Luke cocked an eyebrow. “No?”
“Let’s go upstairs now, before the messenger returns. I want to do everything you mentioned earlier. Put my mouth on you. I want to love you, Luke.” She gave him a sensual smile. “I do love you, so much.”
Heat shot straight to his prick and it stiffened in response at her earthy words. But what struck him deep to his soul was the fact she loved him. Enough bloody talk. He rose from his chair and, with no effort, slung her over his shoulder.
Gillian squealed then laughed as he took the stairs two at a time. Once in the bedroom, they tore off each other’s clothes.
“Lay on the bed. Yes, like that.” As she gave him a sultry look, she crawled up his body. She grasped his erect cock and with no preamble, her mouth enveloped him, causing him to cry out. Luke gently clasped her golden hair, pushing her head downward to take more of him. She did, and it caused another ragged moan to tear from deep within him. He loved the sensation of thrusting into her hot mouth, her teeth dragging along the length of him, her tongue exploring the pulsating veins wrapped around his erection. “Yes, suck me,” he commanded, the voice didn’t sound like his own.
Gillian gazed up at him while her tongue swirled around the swollen head. “Make me,” she whispered, as a teasing, siren smile curved about her lips.
Oh, sweet God. His emotions climbed to a rising crescendo. Wrapping her blond locks about his wrist, he pulled her forward, sat up slightly in order for his gloved left hand to grip her head. “Naughty, darling girl,” he murmured. Holding her steady, he thrust his hips upward and pumped fast. As he did, Gillian enthusiastically sucked him. Husky grunts rumbled from his chest. “Take me,” he demanded with a guttural tone.
He was completely engulfed in a sea of passion. It had been years since he let himself go like this. His peak was near, and he released her to allow her to pull away. Instead, Gillian gripped him tight and continued to pleasure him. A swell of love rolled over him and he came violently. He cried out, his voice hoarse. With one last groan he fell against the pillow, trying to catch his breath.
Giving him a sweet smile, she lay on top of him, her head resting against his mid-chest. As he calmed, he tunneled the fingers of his right hand through her hair, caressing the silken locks. They lay together, reveling in the warmth.
“I love you, Luke. I always will.”
The emotionally spoken words hit him hard, searing his soul. This splendid lady was giving and generous with her affections. He did not expect this to happen to him again. Never believed he would find a wonderful woman to share his life. “You are glorious,” he murmured. “Allow me to show you how much.”
Turning her on her back, he began a leisurely exploration of her skin. Kissing, nipping his way down until he reached her mid-section, he swirled his tongue across her stomach as his right hand moved between her legs. With a whimper, she arched her back when he stroked her nub. “I must taste you,” he murmured, his voice husky. Positioning himself between her thighs, he looked up and caught her gaze. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips red and swollen from his aggressive kisses.
Luke wanted nothing more than to drive her mad with desire. As he plunged his tongue between her folds, his thumb continued to rub the most sensitive part of her. Hearing her soft moans stoked his own arousal, and as soon as she cried out with her release, he grabbed his shaft and gave it a couple of strokes, and they came together. They curled up in each other’s arms, breathless, sated, and blissful.
But their happy ending would have to wait. It would be a living agony, but it had to be done. “Gillian. It is close to three o’clock. We should get up and get dressed. The lad will return soon with a message.”
“Hmm.” She snuggled in closer. “I want to stay here like this. Forever.”
A stark yearning tore through him. He felt the same. “I agree, it is tempting. But we need to make sure we are ready to depart at a moment’s notice.”
“No one will find us here. We can stay like this until the war ends.”
“Gillian…”
She sighed. “Yes, all right.”
“It cannot be…” he whispered.
