“Izzy, oh my god! You can’t just ask her,” Delilah scolds, backhanding Izzy’s arm.
“Why not? We all want to know,” Izzy counters, completely unapologetic.
My blush rises from my chest to my hairline.
They all want to know? To know what? How long have they been gossiping about me and Greyson?
“See, you freaked her out,” Delilah chastises, hitting Izzy harder. “Ouch!” she yips when Izzy hits her back.
“Sorry, Mia. It wasn’t cool for me to ask you like that,” Izzy offers. I give a shaky grin, unable to look either of them in the face.
“But seriously…” she says from the corner of her mouth, poorly hidden from Delilah by her hand. “What’s going on with you and Greyson?”
I don’t know if time stops, or if it moves at high speed, but before I can form a mature, professional answer, I blurt out the worst possible response.
“We kissed.”
“You WHAT?” Izzy and Delilah squeal in tandem.
“Shhhhh. Can we not tell the entire restaurant? News travels in this town faster than wildfire.” I bury my face in my hands. I wish I could teleport to anywhere but here.
“Sorry,” Delilah says with a wince.
“But oh my goooood,” Izzy loud-whispers at the same time.
“Is it that big of a deal?” I ask behind my hands, pretty sure I already know the answer.
“Yes,” Izzy says, as Delilah says, “No.”
I groan into my sweaty palms. That’s it. I have to move to Antarctica.
Delilah gently peels my hands from my face, her expression kind and reassuring.
“It’s just that in all the years we’ve known Greyson, we’ve never once seen him with a woman. He’s a private person, but I don’t think he’s really been with anyone since Harper’s mom left,” Izzy offers.
“So if he kissed you, that’s huuuuuge,” Delilah adds.
It felt huge. Monumental. A cataclysmic shift in my universe.
“I’d like it if this could stay between the three of us. I know Livy’s your best friend, but she’s also Greyson’s sister—and until I know what this is, I want to respect his privacy.”
They both swear on each other’s life they won’t tell a soul until I give them permission, and I trust them.
“But until then…” Izzy trails off.
“Tell. Us. Everything,” Delilah says. “Spill the tea.” She sips her lemonade so dramatically I crumble into laughter.
“Well, it was on New Years Eve.”

Me: I need some advice, but I swear to god if you fuck with me, I’ll make your life hell.
Reid: Good morning to you too, Grey.
Connor: Coming in hot first thing in the morning, damn.
