“I don’t think…” she panted out. “I can.”
He wrapped one arm around her, palming her breast as he straightened her spine without breaking their connection. He rolled her nipple between his finger and thumb, bringing such delicious pleasure, her head lolled back against his chest. “Do you want to come with me?” he asked, his voice thick with need.
“Always,” she panted out.
“Then you will, baby. Trust me.” He kissed her cheek and put the rose on the shelf. Taking one of her hands in his, he pressed it to the wall, and laced their fingers together, holding it there. Her legs were so shaky, she was pretty sure his cock and that hand were the only things holding her up as he thrust deep and slow, using his other hand on her clit. The new angle heightened every sensation. Every slide of his cock brought a gust of pleasure, drawing greedy noises. Their laced fingers curled together into a fist. “I need to see you,” he gritted out. “I need to kiss you. I can never get close enough.” He spun her around, and in one swift move, he thrust inside her, pinned her hands to the wall, and devoured her mouth. Every thrust took her higher, filling her so completely, she felt him everywhere. Tingling in her limbs warred with heat and lust whipping through her, creating a hurricane of sensations. Her senses reeled and skidded. She was overcome with pleasure, crying out, bucking wildly as Flynn surrendered to his own powerful release, and there in the shower, surrounded by their pleas and moans, they rode the waves of their orgasms until they were both too spent to move.
Chapter Twenty-Five
A LONG WHILE later, after bathing each other and sharing dozens of kisses and laughs, they were sitting in Sutton’s living room eating sushi and looking through her middle school yearbook. Flynn turned the page and found her seventh-grade photo. She was a freaking adorable bright-eyed little girl, with her blond hair gathered over one shoulder and that brilliant smile beaming off the page.
“Hey, Braden. This is a definite pro.”
He looked up from the yearbook, drinking her in for the millionth time. She looked relaxed and happy sitting cross-legged on the couch in his T-shirt, her hair still damp from their shower. He had no idea which pros and cons list she was referring to, but being with her tonight was a definite pro for him. He couldn’t have stayed away if he’d wanted to. “Eating sushi is the pro? What list are you working on?”
“The pros and cons of sleeping with my boss. Eating sushi after having great sex with you.” She popped another piece of sushi into her mouth.
“It’s a pro for me, too, but I’m feeling slightly objectified,” he teased. “Do you have my sparkling personality on your list, or just my sexual skills?”
“Sparkling is debatable, but I do have several of your personal attributes on there. And no, they’re not all sexual.”
“Really?” He wondered what they were.
“Yes, and I’m not telling you what they are, so don’t even ask.”
He chuckled. “Mind reader. I wonder if seventh-grade Sutton ever imagined she’d get this lucky.”
“Seventh-grade Sutton was the head of the newspaper club. She had big aspirations of being the next Barbara Walters, and she was not going to sleep with her boss to get there.”
“The newspaper club, huh? Let’s see.” He turned the pages until he found a picture of the newspaper club. There were five girls and two boys sitting on the front steps of the school. A black man with glasses sat behind them smiling proudly. The teacher who ran the club, no doubt. Sutton was easy to spot, sitting beside a blond-haired boy. Her hair was pinned up in a ponytail, and she wore a blue sweater, blue plaid skirt, and sandals. “You were stylish even at that age. Are you still good friends with these kids?”
“Most of them. The girl sitting next to me is Deirdra de Messiéres.”
“The one in that picture?” He pointed to one of the photographs on the wall she’d shown him earlier, of her, Leni, Deirdra, and Deirdra’s sister Abby, sitting on the beach when they were teenagers. Her walls were covered with beachy paintings, cool bamboo planters, and loads of pictures of family and friends, each of whom she’d pointed out while they’d waited for their sushi delivery.
“Yes, that’s her. We’ve always been close. She and her fiancé travel a lot, so I haven’t seen her much lately, but I see her sisters since they live on the island. Abby owns a bistro that her father used to run, and my aunt Faye works with her.”
“You have extended family on the island?”
“Just my aunt, who technically isn’t my aunt anymore. It’s a long story, but basically, she was married to my father’s brother, who’s a real ass, and they lived in Colorado. For years my mother tried to convince my aunt to move to the island, and she finally did last year. But her kids are spread out between New York, Harborside, and Colorado.”
“Will they be at the wedding?”
“Yeah. It’ll be nice to see them. Anyway, Abby and Dee’s half sister, Cait, is a tattooist. See this guy?” She pointed to the dark-haired boy in the picture. “That’s Jamison Remington. Cait is engaged to his brother Brant.”
“Remington. That’s one of the families your family is close to, right?”
“You don’t forget a thing, do you?”
He cocked a grin. “You should put that in my pro column.”
“Maybe I will.” She pointed to the blond boy in the picture. “See this guy? That’s Fitz Silver. He gave me my first kiss, and he was the first guy to ever get to second base with me.”
“Ah, the truth comes out. You dated one of the highfalutin Silver boys.”
“He’s not like that. He’s a really good guy.”
“How long did you go out with him?”
