“I don’t know, you could be moonlighting as a massage therapist to make off with people’s stuff.
Just protecting my assets.”
The smirk on his face might imply that he’s teasing, but it still rankles me. Shifting my weight to
my other hip, I continue to hold out my hand, determined to see it through as he drops the other
cufflink next to the first one.
In slow, determined movements, I walk them over to my jewelry holder and drop them in,
listening to that satisfying plink as they connect with the metal bowl. Master Aiden’s lips drop down
into a stern frown, and despite myself, the arousal comes flooding back.
“Your cufflinks will be here when you’re ready to get them. If you don’t trust me, I’m sure Master
Spencer will be more than happy to hold onto them.”
“No,” he growls, glaring at the jewelry bowl. “I trust you.”
“Good. Now then. You only have thirty minutes on my table, let’s not waste it with idle chit chat.
What do you do for a living?”
At that, he straightens back up, a look of pride glimmering in his eyes. “I’m an orthopedic
surgeon. One of the twenty under forty to watch. So, you might say I’m a big deal. I’m surprised you
don’t recognize me.”
The urge to roll my eyes is so strong, I close them to resist the urge. No doubt he’s trying to
impress me, but what he’s really doing is getting on my damn nerves. It’s as if he’s testing my resolve,
seeing if I’ll take what he gives me in some meek, submissive way or fight back.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Did you say twenty under forty?” I banter back, knowing I’m playing with fire. “I
don’t think I’m familiar with that. I was too busy winning the MTF / Performance Health
Humanitarian Award. I apologize I don’t have my plaque here with me. You’d have to come to my
house to see it.”
“Oh? Is that an invitation?” he counters.
Fuck. I walked right into that one. Shaking my head, I motion toward his shoulders. “I’m assuming
as a surgeon you carry a lot of tension in your upper back?”
“You know what they say when you assume,” he drawls, once more sending my pulse throbbing
far lower than it should.
“Master Aiden, we started early, but you’re now starting to cut into your time.” I have to take back
control of the situation. I just can’t let him get the upper hand in here. Out in the club, he can say, do,
