in a typical medical textbook, at least not in the way she’s presenting them. Easing myself out of bed, I

head over to my work bag and pull out the book I stole from her apartment.

Perhaps I really need to start taking everything a bit more seriously.

In my line of work, I want my patients to have the absolute best care available, and far be it from

me to deny them something that might help just because it’s not found in a Western medicine textbook.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to switch my medical model, but I can certainly make room for more

holistic alternatives.

Before I crack the book, however, I pull my phone back out and message Dillon. If my little minx

wants me to tie her up, then I’m going to learn what I need to do to keep her safe. Knowing him, he

won’t have any problem coming here after I’m feeling better for some secret lessons.

CHAPTER 19

A iden

NERVOUS ENERGY FLITS THROUGH MY BODY AS I HOLD THE ROPES IN MY HAND. DILLION IS NEXT TO

me, murmuring last minute instructions. Since the time I was sick, I’ve been able to meet with him

three times, but it still doesn’t feel like enough.

People like Dillion and Owen live for this type of play but, until Lila, I never gave Shibari a

single thought. It just wasn’t something that interested me. Honestly, if not for how much she seems to

like it, I still wouldn’t give a damn. But I will never forget the look on her face as Dillon put her into

that soft suspension.

That’s a look I want to see again, and if it takes ropes to get her there, then that’s what we’ll do.

My balls tighten as I picture her looking at me with that same level of trust as she leans back and lets

me have my way with her, helplessly bound in the ropes.

Normally, on Saturday, I’d help her pack up her stuff, but I want to spend what time I can

practicing the ties and reviewing the potential contraindications. I want to make sure I'm playing as

safely as I can. Plus, now that she’s taken my advice and made the massage space nearly bare, she

doesn’t need quite as much assistance.

Besides, my brain is already too full of other matters. Gripping the rope between my fingers, my

brain continues going back to the meeting I had yesterday, to the job offer in Dallas. It’s something that

I really can’t turn down without stalling or possibly damaging my career—but Lila is a complication

that I haven’t been brave enough to think about.
