Sitting down at my desk, I steeple my fingers and rest my lips on the tips. There has to be
something else. It can’t just be the massage therapy. The very idea is ridiculous.
“You’ve improved. That much is clear. So, tell me, what have you been doing?”
“I’ve been resting it like you suggested, but I’ve also been seeing this amazing therapist. I don’t
know, Doc, you might want to hire her. She’s a game changer.”
“I’m sure she is.”
As he continues to wax poetic about my submissive’s gifts and talents, I get an odd sensation in
my stomach. I know she believes in what she does, but I never have. There just hasn’t been evidence
to support it. Now, I have physical proof that she’s made a difference… but what do I do with this
information?
“Does this mean I don’t need the surgery anymore?”
Frowning, I take him through the movements again, testing his limits. The results are the same. I
can’t argue with the numbers, and it galls me that my little minx managed to help him progress this
much. He looks at me, a grin teasing the corners of his mouth, as if this is all just one big joke to him.
“I’m glad you find this amusing.”
“I’m just glad I don’t need surgery,” he replies. “Lila said she could get me there, and according
to you, she did her job.”
Red tinges my vision as I force my breathing to remain even. The fact that she told my client that
she could fix him up without me is far more than I want to think about. Deep down, I know she
probably didn’t mean it as a snub, but that’s how it feels.
“She did indeed,” I mutter.
Unable to believe the results, I take him through the motions one more time. The look of utter
boredom on his face rankles me a bit, but there’s got to be something I’m missing. There’s no way in
the span of a few short months Lila got this much range of motion out of him. There’s just no way. But
again, the numbers never lie. That’s why I trust them as strongly as I do.
“When you first came in, your range of motion was not nearly as good,” I admit. “It’s why I was
concerned about your inability to play and wanted to schedule the surgery. I won’t bore you with the
numerical details, but suffice it to say, you’ve gone past the frozen stage and are well into the thawing
stage. However, I want to keep monitoring you, just to make sure everything keeps on the healing
path.”
