Taking my fist, I slam it against the pillar holding her delicate wrists, shaking the tent with my wrath. “I could fuck you, little omega. I could delve into that sweet pussy of yours and take my pleasure, splitting your slim body in two as I work you over. Your barrier was the only thing keeping you safe. I told you, no, ordered you not to mess with that statue. Now, you’ve put yourself in harm's way.”

Sinking down into the soft sand, I level a glare at her. Anger and sorrow beat in my chest as she continues to look at me with that trustful, needy expression. I could hurt her. No, I would hurt her. Though she is without a barrier, she is still new, virginal, untried. Someone like me would rip someone like her to shreds.

That’s why I cannot allow myself to rut. That’s why I will keep these damn respirators in, even if I have to permanently affix it to my face. I cannot lose my calm around her. To do so would be to kill her. I don’t do gentle. I don’t do nice—everything a princess omega needs. She doesn’t need a brute to paw at her and mark her up; she needs a gentleman, someone who would be patient with her, who would actually fucking know how to.

Even now, I stare down at her glistening lips, and all I can see is my cock pistoning in and out, able to move freely from the mechanical restraints. It’s a lovely dream, one that threatens to suck me under. Her distressing whimpers do nothing to help the situation. It burrows into my skin, demanding I act.

“Please. Please Alpha. Fuck me. Is that what you want? Do you want me to beg? I’ll beg for you. I’ll beg so prettily. Just please take this pain from me. Only your cock can help me.”

The slivers of gray are almost gone, turning her eyes black. The heat is overtaking her at an alarming rate. Incoherent words fall from her lips, babblings that only the gods can understand. But her actions need no translations.

She writhes against the bonds, desperation etched into every facet of her body. I have to leave. I can’t remain in the same space as her, breathing in this tainted air, staring at her perfect body that I want to mark with my hands, lips, and teeth.

Leaning my head against hers, our breaths intermingle. Just one touch. One touch and I’ll leave. What’s the harm in just one touch? She needs this. I need this. I need to caress her, to see if she’s real. I need to know that she won’t break at just this one simple touch.

I lower my fingers to her pussy and trail my fingertips along her swollen lips, groaning at the silken texture as it slides across my digits. “Please. I need you.” She whispers against my skin like a phantom wind. “I need to fuck my Alpha.”

Her words hit me like a splash of cold water. It’s so similar to what she was saying about the beta as I took her from the commune. “I’m not your anything. I am a soldier of Stanlion. Nothing more. I apologize that I gave you any other impression.”

I pull back, pain lancing through my body as I drag myself from her. Karis will be the death of me. Deep down, I know this. The only issue is, will it be a death I welcome or one that I will wish to resist? A loud commotion pricks my ears, turning my attention away from the omega below me and onto what’s happening outside.

Adjusting my cock, I force myself to turn away and walk outside, leaving her whimpering pleads behind me. For the first time since I’ve been out from under the High Echelon’s control, I long for the underwear that kept me from getting hard. It would be so much easier to think around Karis if she wasn’t so damned tempting.

As I fling back the curtain to the tent, utter chaos meets my gaze. Leon and some other Alpha struggle with an omega that thrashes about between them while Basq holds onto a meeker, terrified omega that’s sobbing in his arms. Gathering my wits, I storm over to the wild omega and grip her chin in my grasp.

“You will be still.” I allow the ferocity of my growl to seep into her, stilling her until she’s limp in their arms.

Though her breaths come in haggard gasps and her head is bowed low in supplication, her eyes glare up at me, daring me to do my worst. Scenting the air, I can only detect fear from the other omega and nothing from this one. Curious. She’s affected by my growl but doesn’t fear me. What are they doing to these omegas in the commune to turn them into such feral creatures?

Glancing over to where her hand still struggles to get free, I spy a familiar marking on her wrist. I reach out and grab her from the two Alphas and throw her to the ground to loom over her. “How is it that Stanlion finds itself missing not one but two omegas? And with you being marked as one, how did you manage to escape?”

“Do you wish to know so that you can shore up your deficiencies? Or are you simply making small talk?”

Shock floods my body as I stare at her. This omega is so bold, so callous. She’s nothing like her dynamic. Then again, neither is Karis. Right now, the only one acting at all like an omega should is the pitiful, quivering form that’s quaking in Basq’s arms.

“I’m merely curious. Only a few have tried to leave, and none of them succeeded.”

“Well then, soldier man,” she spits out, her eyes blazing. “I guess you missed one. Seems your government isn’t as infallible as you thought.”

“What is your purpose here?” An ache gathers in the space between my eyes. “We are heading back to the place you so obviously despise, and something tells me you don’t want to go back. What is it you want?”

“We’re here for Karis.”

Snorting, I glance back at the tent, ignoring the pang in my heart as I step further away from the one omega that holds my attention. “You may try to take her back, but you will fail. She is ours. She belongs to Stanlion and not with you outliers.”

“Ahh, so you’ve bedded her then? You’ve marked her? You work fast for an Alpha. I guess the stories of your kind’s stamina are greatly exaggerated.”

Snarling, I lower myself so that we’re seeing eye to eye. “I have not touched her. She remains unharmed and unsullied. Or do you prefer I drag her out here and let her be defiled by the betas she’s grown to love?”

Her eyes widen as she leans back from me. Finally, a show of fear. Something I’ve said must have finally gotten through that thick skull of hers. But instead of groveling and telling me just how sorry she is, she looks back up at me with horror filling her gaze.

“She’s about to go into heat.”

“Yes. I am well aware.”

“And I’m assuming you have someone watching her, waiting to help her through it?”

“Of course not. No one will dare lay a finger on her and live.”
