He shook his head. “Not me. My job keeps my bills paid, and I still have money on the side to fuck off every now and then.”

I nodded. “Cool…good to know.”

The rest of the night for me was just for a free meal. That nigga had nothing to offer but info about things going on around the city.

He had no pull to get into events for free, no VIP passes, no access to nothing special. The rest of the night went on. We danced a lil’ bit, ate some good food, and talked here and there.

It wasn’t late when he took me back home, and to be honest, I was glad to be there.

“Well, this was fun,” I said as I unlocked my door.

He nodded. “Facts, I hope we could do it again.”

I shrugged. “I don’t know about that, but it’s something to think about.”

He laughed. “Dammmnnn! You gonna do me like that?”

I laughed at him. “Mario, you have nothing goin’ for yourself.”

“What you mean?” he asked. “I am stable.”

I nodded. “You are, and that is a good thing, but I want a nigga that wants to take over the city, that knows it's nothing outta his reach ‘cause that’s the way that I live.”

He nodded. “Noted. Maybe I need your help with that. I never had somebody that moved like that.”

I smiled, taking in what he said. I could respect that.

“Iight then. I might be able to work with that.”

He smiled hard as hell. “That’s what I'm talkin’ bout, baybee!”

“You're dumb as hell,” I said, laughing.

He laughed back. “Nah, for real though, a lady with goals and ambition is somethin’ I never had a chance to experience. That shit might have changed my life a bit if I did.”

“We will see then. I’ma talk to you later.”

Mario reached for my hand and kissed it. “I will talk to you later, Miss.”

I walked inside, locked the door behind me, and went to my kitchen and poured myself a shot of Henny.

Just as I unlocked my phone to text the group chat to tell my girls what the hell I did, I got another text from Rosama.

Rosama: You tryin’ to make me hunt you down, huh?”

I smiled at my phone as I read the message. That nigga was crazy, I could tell, and I don’t know what it was about it, but I loved that shit.

Chapter 14

Rosama

Iwas cooling around my crib, smoking, and playing the game and trying to get in touch with Nylah. I don’t know what the fuck she was on this time, but ignoring me was something I wasn’t used to—something a nigga like me never dealt with, and I didn’t like how it was making me feel. I tried to put my feelings to the side and relax when I heard a knock at the door.

I raised up with my Glock in my hand. Nobody eva came to my crib. I went ova and checked the peephole and laughed to myself.

“Niggaaa…” I said as I opened the door. “You could have told me you was sliding through.”

Dre walked in laughing as I dapped him up. “It was a test, nigga, tryna see if you was on ya shit.”
