“What are you doing? Please come back,” she begged.

A devilish smile curled the edge of his mouth. “Now you will get a taste of what it’s like to want something so bad and not be able to have it.” His now darkened eyes roamed half lidded over Victoria as he slid his hand up and down his cock twice.

“Stop teasing me and undo these straps,” she whined.

He smiled for a second and then moved back to her. He lifted her legs and wrapped them around his waist as he ever so slowly worked himself back inside her until he was filling her completely. Her eyes had shut at the glorious sensation when she felt the straps of her arms loosen.

Immediately her arms flung around his neck. Their mouths collided, his arms tightening around her as they fused together, thrusting and writhing with unmatched intensity until Victoria’s face was red and her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she screamed out in climax. Inno moaned, gently biting the space near her shoulder and collarbone as he thrust one last time and she felt his entire body shiver with release.

He carried her over to one of the wooden desk chairs and sat with her cradled in his lap, tucked into his chest until they caught their breath.

“I don’t want to rush you, but we need to hurry and get out of here,” he said as he brushed her hair back out of her face and behind her ear.

Victoria had forgotten they were on borrowed time. She leaped up, giving him a final, long kiss before grabbing her satchel and sorting through her father’s desk for something of his to take with her.

Inno dressed and was about to ask her a question when they heard something outside. They both exchanged worried glances.

It was the sound of horses stampeding outside the castle.

Victoria ran up the stairs to the window and looked out to see several riders arrive and leap from their horses, several carriages following close behind. Shouts could be heard. Inno pulled her back just as a stone with a soaked cloth on fire was thrown through the window.

“What shall we do?” she cried as he pulled her away.

Inno’s eyes widened at the blazing fire that licked up the draperies. For the first time, fear and panic painted his face. “They came faster than I expected. We need to get to the basement. There is not another way to escape. We have to go out the laboratory,” he muttered as he turned with a stiff jaw and pulled her toward the basement door. As they closed the door behind them, Inno locked it and the sound of shouts grew louder. Suddenly chaos was surrounding them.

Great crashes and clangs filled the silence and soon smoke began to trickle into the basement under the small crack in the door.

“Come on!” Victoria cried out as she grabbed Inno’s hand, unwilling to move a centimeter without him. She flung open the back door and as they crossed the darkness and flung open the second door, both of them froze.

Hundreds of angry villagers with torches, pitchforks, and various weapons in hand closed the distance, surrounding the castle entirely. Victoria screamed at the sound of a loud crash and the entire castle shook.

As they looked to the left, out of the door, Victoria saw the corner of the castle had been knocked loose as men slammed a large, fallen tree repeatedly into the structure and stone crumbled down around it.

“Kill the monster!” the crowd cried out as they raised their flames into the early evening sky. Several hands threw their torches inside the castle and soon flames licked the sides. It would only be a moment before they looked down to notice the side door had opened and Victoria and Inno were close enough to grab.

“Fire,” Inno cried out as he tightened his hold on Victoria and moved to stand in front of her. “There’s fire everywhere!”

“There is nowhere to go!” Victoria cried out. “They have the castle surrounded!”

Inno grabbed Victoria and pushed her back into the laboratory, barricading the outer door behind him with stray barrels of chemicals. He pulled Victoria to him and kissed her as though it might be their last, savoring every touch as he held her tightly. His eyes remained shut for a beat before opening. “I will go out there. I will confess to everything. I’ll say I killed your father after he created me, that this was all my doing. Alone,” he breathed heavily as he held Victoria’s face between his hands. “This is the only way they will let you live.”

The door pounded above the steps, a horrid hammering that sounded like thunder. Smoke leaked down into the laboratory, and Victoria’s eyes landed on the walls of flammable chemicals. The second a flame touched the laboratory, the entire thing would go up in seconds.

Her fingers dug into the wool of his coat and pressed into his skin as she cried, “Inno, they will kill you!”

His eyes filled with tears, making his yellow eyes glossy. “I know.” He flinched as something was thrown down the stairs and the first bit of orange flame was seen. His eyes flickered closed, and he made a move for the door. “Run out into the crowd as soon as I open the door. Please get away from the flames as fast as you can.” He opened the door to the laboratory.

Victoria tugged back on his hand, refusing to release him. “Inno, no!”

“I love you, Victoria. Let me do this. Let me leave this life knowing I saved the woman I love—something I couldn’t do before. Let me save you.” He kissed her and pulled her against him as a soft sound of pain left his throat.

“No, Inno, no! Don’t do this, please!” Victoria cried as she tugged back on his arm and tried to stop him from moving to the door. “I love you. Do not leave me, please!” she cried.

A small smile lifted the corner of his mouth before it fell. “And I love you, Victoria. Until the end, in every lifetime, I love you.”

“No!” she wailed, still holding on. “Please, no! There is no point in my living without you. If we are both to die, then let it at least be together.”

Footsteps sounded behind them. Inno’s brows pinched together in a pained expression, but as his eyes darted to the side of the tunnel, a flicker of what looked like hope seemed to crawl into his eyes. “This is a tunnel.”
