Margot added, “When we found out what you’d done, we had to come and help.”
Thane said surprisingly, “We’re a team.”
Camber smiled. “We are a team.”
In the middle of the circle, Vorka appeared.
“Vorka!” many of their voices cried out.
“Before this spirit leaves you, I wanted to leave you this.”
Camber reached out for a leather-bound book. On the front it said The Navigator.
“There is no more Map Keeper. You are now the first Navigator. This book will teach how to precisely do what you did in there by instinct.” Vorka pointed to the circle.
“What, you mean…?”
“Control time and space. You don’t need a map any more. This power is inside your head, but you must study, and only with hard work will you master it.”
With that Vorka disappeared, but the book stayed in Camber’s hand.
“Did she say time and space?” Camber said.
“I think so, but don’t worry about that now.” Brogan kissed her deeply and said, “I love you. I’ve found home.”
“I love you. We will always have a home in each other’s hearts.”
Ziggy said, “You’re as sickeningly sweet as that tree sap the wolves sell me.”
The others laughed.
Brogan held Camber in her arms, and Camber looked and smiled at them all. “We are a motley crew. Let’s go.”
“Aye, aye, Navigator,” Brogan whispered.
Epilogue
Brogan’s hips undulated to the same rhythm as Camber’s as they took this long and slow, edging to the peak of their passion.
Making love to Camber was all the sweeter now that they were telepathically linked. Brogan could hear Camber’s voice telling her exactly what she wanted. Camber’s legs tightened around her hips. I’m going to come, Wolf.
She pulled Brogan down to her lips and put her arms around her neck. Brogan was more than ready. She had been trying to hold her back for as long as possible.
When the end came, it was so intense that Brogan could not vocalize her feelings. She shuddered into pure love, emotion, and pleasure. On the other hand, Camber squeezed Brogan’s neck so tight that she could have squeezed her head off.
Brogan came down from the high of her orgasm and breathed hard. Camber let go of her tight grip and flopped back onto the bed.
“Goddess, Wolf. You are going to kill me before the Abnobian empire ever does,” Camber said.
Brogan gave her a deep kiss, then fell onto her side. “Not if you kill me first. You nearly choked me.”
Camber laughed and snuggled into her side, and Brogan put her arm around her neck.
“I’m so happy we decided to take a break while trying to save the universe,” Brogan said.
“I think saving the universe is a bit too grand a boast. Maybe denting the empire.”
“Maybe, but we still deserve a break.”
