And hated it.
His fist slammed against the table.
“They’re not getting inside this facility.”
Wade said nothing.
“They’re not getting you out.”
Still Wade remained silent.
The man’s breathing accelerated.
With every word he spoke, he sounded less convinced.
Wade leaned back and studied him.
Watched the sweat gather along his hairline.
Watched his fingers twitch against the file.
Watched him unravel.
Then Wade asked his first question.
The first one he had asked during an interrogation in years.
“How many?”
The interrogator blinked. “What?”
“How many survived?”
Silence.
The man knew exactly who he meant.
The second team.
Shadow Division.
The men who had been sent to the same mountain five years after Wade’s team disappeared.
The interrogator swallowed.
It was a small reaction.
Barely noticeable.
But it was enough.
At least one man had survived.
Probably more.
The interrogator leaned across the table.
“It won’t matter how many are left when Madow finishes with them.”
