My walls clenched painfully around his finger, begging him to move.

“Please…” I choked out. His unmoving finger inside me while his thumb rubbed my clit edged me to the brink of insanity.

“Please?”

“Please—”

The lights came on followed by the soft hum of the elevator. I froze, my plea died in my throat.

In the history of bad timing, this had to take the cake. I shrunk into the elevator wall, desperately willing it to open into some sort of magical portal.

I couldn’t bring myself to confront the reality of how I looked with my buttons undone, skirt ruched around my waist and Kazimir’s finger inside me.

Mortification burned through the haze of lust clouding my sense of judgement, bringing with it awareness and shame.

“Look at me.” Kazimir’s order came out rough and clipped but my body didn’t move in response this time.

Without warning, his finger pulled back, pushing back into me with a force that tore a loud moan from me.

“Fuck,” I yelled, feeling my body spasm from the intrusion.

“Look. At. Me.”

My eyes fell open without hesitation and my head lifted. The look in his eyes knocked off whatever was left of the oxygen in my lungs.

His icy blue orbs had adapted a dark shade, almost too dark. They searched my face, trailing down my parted shirt and my breasts peeking from them before settling on his hand disappearing into my skirt.

I held my breath as he leaned forward. The darkness had offered me a cover and courage and now in the light, I was exposed with nowhere to hide.

His arm went over me, to the control button and a short beep followed. Was he stopping the elevator? Was he going to kick me out?

My eyes followed to find the number 37 glowing on screen.

We were heading to the 37th floor? That was the… the look in his eyes confirmed my suspicion. We were heading to his penthouse.

I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat. When I made the decision to kiss him, I was merely acting on impulse. I wanted to be bold for once, take what I wanted and know what his touch felt like but I never factored it going this far.

“Having second thoughts?”

Chapter Two

Genevieve

The mark of a wise person was discernment. Knowing when to start, when to stop and when to back out of a situation, especially when the universe was clearly giving you an out. Good thing I never boasted about wisdom because the word ‘hypocrite’ would’ve been slashed across my forehead in neon ink.

I should’ve apologized and scurried off the elevator when the lights came on. I wanted to kiss the man and I already did that, but here I was, walking into his penthouse with shaky limbs.

“Set the files on the table and come over.”

I obediently set the files on the table next to me and began walking over to him.

The penthouse had an open floor design with the elevator serving as the door, the kitchen was separated from the TV area by a long dining table, and the bed was positioned on an elevation overseeing the city.

It was the perfect space for when office hours ran too late.

Kazimir stood next to the bed, his form illuminated by the city lights behind me as he watched me take slow, cautious steps towards him. His eyes darkened when I stood in front of him.

“Take off your shoes.”
