Chapter Six

Jasper

I stood in the kitchen, shaking my head as I replayed the sexual acrobatics I’d enjoyed with Amelia. I wasn’t a virgin or anything, but fuck, what we’d done together was certainly the first time I’d ever felt like that.

Like every one of my cells had been plugged directly into the sun or some shit. Amelia’s body had fit with mine as if we’d been destined to be together. She’d been blissfully tight around me and knew exactly how to move to get me off. She also hadn’t just taken. She’d given too. The last few women I’d been with had not only been more interested in my money, but they’d also expected to be worshipped without reciprocation. I’d do my part to get them all hot and bothered then we’d skip right to the fucking.

Amelia, however, had wrapped that pretty mouth of hers around my dick and made him a very happy fellow first. I’d actually been the one to request that she let me inside her.

And man, was I glad she’d let me inside her.

I jumped when cold water splashed onto my feet, indicating I’d overfilled the glasses I’d been pouring water into for us. Who could blame my lack of focus though? Amelia had scrambled my brain in the best possible way.

“Hey, what’s taking so long?” The subject of my fantasizing walked into the kitchen on bare feet, wearing one of my flannel shirts and nothing else. Her gazed dropped to the puddle on the floor at my feet. “Oh, I see.” Grinning, she tore off a few sheets of paper towel. “You’re in a haze of ecstasy too, aren’t you?”

“Too?”

She gave me a little shove then bent to wipe up the water. “Don’t pretend what we did in the guest bedroom didn’t shift your world off its axis, Jasper.” She stood after sopping up the spill and tossed the soaked paper towels into the trash after I’d pointed to the cabinet that held the garbage can.

When she came back over to me, she slid her hands up my bare chest and hooked her hands on my shoulders. “Because I’m willing to admit I’ve never been pleasured quite like that.” She caught my mouth in a kiss and honestly, I wanted time to stop so I could enjoy this.

Forever.

I rested my hands on her hips, urging her closer so our bodies were pressed together. We’d been as close as two people could get, and yet, I wanted her closer somehow.

I wanted her to be mine.

Which was absurd. I had known her for a handful of hours. She’d shown up out of nowhere. I knew next to nothing about her.

That didn’t stop me from wanting to know everything though.

She ended the kiss, licking her lips as if she’d eaten a sinfully good dessert. “Man, you’re a phenomenal kisser.”

I rubbed my index finger along her bottom lip. “You’ve got some skills too.”

She smiled against my fingertip then sucked my entire finger into her mouth, a predatory look in her golden-brown eyes. Her tongue stroked my finger and my dick instantly wanted in on that action. I should be exhausted after the multiple rounds Amelia and I had engaged in, proving my judgment in grabbing the whole condom box had been a genius move. Being buried deep in Amelia again, however, was exactly what I wanted to do.

Amelia released my finger and reached around me to the counter. She picked up the overfilled glass and dumped a little out into the sink before bringing it up to her lips and taking a hearty gulp. As her head tipped farther back, I fixated on the slender column of her neck, her smooth, flawless skin. My gaze roamed down to her cleavage peeking from beneath the flannel shirt, and my hands tingled to touch her everywhere.

“What are your plans in Vermont?” I asked, picking up my own water glass and taking a swig to cool myself down.

“My . . . plans . . .” She set down her glass then rubbed her forehead as she paced away from me to lean against the kitchen island. She stared at me for a few silent seconds then nodded as if having a conversation with herself. “Okay, I’m going to be straight with you, Jasper.”

“I’d appreciate that.”

She nodded again. “I had to flee my home in Montana because some bad folks were a threat to me.”

“Does this have to do with your uncle’s passing?”

“Yes, and I came here to Vermont essentially to disappear.” She fiddled with the sleeves on the flannel shirt. “I have a . . . a cousin here, but he’s apparently away right now and won’t be back until Monday so I have to wait until then to ask him for help.”

“Can’t you call him?” I asked.

“I don’t have my cousin’s phone number. We’re not close, but he’s the only family I have.” She shrugged one shoulder. “Besides, he’s on his honeymoon so I don’t want to bug him. I’ll grab a hotel room until I can speak with him.”

“Stay here.” The words popped out of my mouth before I could think about them. Then I realized I didn’t need to think about them. “Please, Amelia. I would love to have you stay here. And I’m fully aware I sound desperate, but I’m willing to beg you not to go to a hotel. I have no logical explanation for the connection I feel to you, but it’s there. It’s undeniable. It’s strong.”

Her lips turned up slowly at one corner as she stepped into my personal space and wrapped her arms around me. Her head came to rest on my shoulder, her lips pressing to my neck and her nose nuzzling.
