“Me too!” Nia reached into the box and grabbed a piece, letting Morgan hand her a paper plate to put it on.

Morgan wiggled another plate at Sawyer. “Well, at least serve me up a piece.”

Sawyer selected a wedge and placed it onto her plate. “Can I have a plate too?”

“Sure.” Morgan grabbed another plate, but she dipped into the other pizza box on the coffee table and put a thick crust piece onto it before handing it to him. “So you can have all the options.”

“Thanks.” He dove into that piece first, and all three of them chewed quietly.

After a few moments, Morgan caught Sawyer peeking under the box on his lap then he slid it onto the coffee table. She loved knowing she’d had that effect on him.

“So how long have you had that shirt?” His voice was casual, but one look at him revealed he was still pretty fired up over seeing her wear his name along her shoulders.

Time for Morgan to decide how pathetic she was willing to appear in front of this man. When his tongue came out to lick some cheese off his bottom lip, the decision became simple.

Mega-pathetic. She was willing to be mega-pathetic for this sexy center forward.

“I bought this shirt about a week after we first met.” She peeked at him, noting how his eyes closed a little as if he were savoring her reply.

“I want to go to a hockey game,” Nia said. “Can I see you play, Daddy?”

Sawyer shifted his attention to his daughter sitting between them. He grabbed a napkin and wiped sauce from her chin then held up his casted arm. “Well, it’s going to be a little while before I can play again, but yeah, we’ll get you to a game.”

Morgan liked how he’d said we’ll. As if he might ask her for help in making Nia’s game wish come true. Of course, she’d assist however she could.

“In the meantime,” Sawyer said, “how does ice skating on Brenton Lake sound to everyone? Have you ever been skating, Nia-bunny?”

She shook her head. “I wanna try!”

“Then we’ll do it.” Sawyer glanced at Morgan. “What about you? Do you skate?”

“I’ve been known to get my skate on in Rockefeller Center.”

“Excuse me, Miss New York.”

“It’s impossible to live there and not take some winter spins around that rink,” Morgan said. “It would be un-American.”

“You live in New York?” Nia grabbed a mozzarella stick and munched on it.

“I do.”

“Were you playing a game in New York, Daddy, when you made friends with Morgan?”

Morgan nearly choked on her mouthful of pizza. Made friends? So adorable.

“Uh, no,” Sawyer said, trying to contain his own reaction. “I was playing here in Vermont, actually. The team stayed at these cottages and Morgan was staying here too.”

“And your daddy rescued me when I fell on my butt in the snow,” Morgan added.

Nia immediately giggled. “You fell on your butt?”

“Yup, but your daddy swooped in and picked me right up so I didn’t freeze my tushie off.”

“Tushie!” Nia bent over with laughter.

“Be a shame for that tushie to freeze,” Sawyer said quietly, giving Morgan another heated look over Nia’s head.

They finished eating—with Trixie’s nephew dropping off the Pegasus during the chowing down—then it took thirty minutes of an animated movie Morgan had never heard of to get Nia back to a sleepy state. Sawyer lifted her off the couch and carried her to the smaller bedroom. While he was gone, Morgan slipped into the bathroom to brush her teeth and freshen up a bit. Truthfully, she was a little tired from all their activity during the day, but exhaustion wasn’t going to keep her from exploring Sawyer’s beautiful body.
