He took one slow step toward me.

“So imagine my surprise when a nigga just trying to check the weather and the stocks while waiting on you... sees a woman with your exact same body carrying a leaking girl out of a bank with two other women.”

He took a slow step towards me.

“Two years ago...”

His eyes searched every inch of my face.

“You walked into my casino and lost more money than you’d ever lost at Monroe’s Casino.”

He was moving closer with every word.

“Two years ago... you got your first marker.”

This man was closing in on me.

“Two years ago... you bounced on me until tears rolled down your beautiful face.”

He stopped just a few feet away.

“Then you vanished.”

Silence took over the room.

“And today...” His voice dropped even lower. “...you finally gave me a slice of your world and told me why.”

His eyes narrowed, and his orbs got so dark that he appeared soulless.

“You lost one of your best friends.”

Another pause.

“Guess when.”

My stomach twisted.

“...Two years ago.”

His voice stayed calm, but every word felt like another brick sealing me inside a wall.

“If that still ain’t enough...” His gaze flickered toward the corner of the room. “There are two pictures by your mirror. You and three other women, all on bikes, and the other showing all you ladies in your leather cuts.”

His eyes found mine again.

“If you haven’t learned anything about me, love...” He took one final step. “...learn this. I pay attention to everything, Global Jamerson, or should I say, Dice?”

Hotdamn, his attentive ass. He saw my name on the back of my vest.

“Look…” but his words clipped mine.

“I assume Dice is your gang name, but who are they?”

I opened my mouth, but he cut me off before I could get a word out, not wanting to hear my bull.

“What was your angle?” he finally asked.

The question hit me harder than a slap.
