The phone just rang...
I frowned.
I gave Pop Pop a call, and he picked up on the first ring. Cruise or no cruise, Pop Pop never let that phone ring more than twice.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, panic already in his voice.
“It’s Global, Pop.”
“Oh, thank God.”
“I’m good. Have you talked to Coca?”
“Earlier today.”
That was all I needed to hear. The knot in my chest loosened.
“Okay... he ain’t pickin’ up.”
“That boy probably on the phone with his baby mama.”
I laughed.
“Pop Pop, ain’t no baby mama.”
“Whew, that made my day. One rainbow grandchild is enough.”
I didn't even bother explaining what a rainbow baby actually was.
“Still, he know better than not to answer when he got Revv,” I fussed.
“Girl, they probably outside on that swing set.”
“You probably right.”
“Alright, let me know. I gotta go. It’s time for the line dance party.”
“I’m not even gonna ask.”
“Quit worryin’. Coca got Revv. You just make it back to them safe.”
“You right.”
“Okay, gotta go. You on my minutes.”
I shook my head.
“Okay. I love you. Have fun.”
“Love you too.”
We hung up, and I tried calling Coca one more time.
No answer.
I slipped my phone back into my pocket.
He and Revv were probably outside. They probably can't even hear the phone.
