“Thanks.”

She smiled. “You’re welcome.”

There was something about her smile I didn’t trust. “What?”

“Nothing.”

“Why is everyone around here always saying nothing when they clearly mean something?”

Kori looked at me. “Because it’s fun.”

I rolled my eyes, then I pasted on my work smile.

Not that I needed to.

I knew one of the men sitting at that table—apparently a little too well, considering my body had noticed Bone before the rest of me had.

I grabbed four cocktail napkins and headed over. Bone had taken the chair that put his back toward the wall.

The other three men were talking when I reached them.

“Hey, guys.”

Three faces turned toward me.

Bone was already looking.

I smiled. “Welcome to Bing’s. What can I get you?”

One of the men leaned back in his chair.

He had TACO on his cut. His eyes moved over me. “Jesus. When did Bing’s hire you?”

I laughed. “Four days ago.”

“Best decision this place ever made.”

Bone’s head turned. “Taco.” One word. That was it.

Taco looked at him, and Bone stared back. Something passed between them that I couldn’t read.

Taco’s eyebrows lifted slightly, then his mouth curved into a grin. “I’m complimenting the waitress,” Taco said.

“I heard you.”

“Wasn’t disrespectful.”

“Didn’t say it was.”

Taco stared at him for another second and then looked at me. His grin got bigger, but something had changed. Whatever interest had been in his expression a second ago was gone. Or at least tucked away. “Beer,” he said.

I glanced at Bone. He was looking at me again, not Taco.

Me.

I had absolutely no idea what had just happened. Maybe motorcycle club guys communicated telepathically.

“What kind?” I asked Taco.
