I don’t wait for a reply. I just turn and walk out of the room, his eager footsteps following me as I make my way to my office.

“Listen, Orson—” he says as he steps inside.

“Shut the door,” I snap. Goddamn, what is he wearing? Some god-awful pair of striped pants that are worse than the ones he had on at the restaurant. Who’s he think he is? Mick Jagger? “What are you doing here, Chuck?”

He clears his throat again and rolls his shoulders back, clearly trying to appear taller than he is.

“I just want to apologize for last night.”

“Apology accepted.” I nod. Not. “You can go now.”

“Well, actually, I wanted to talk to you about a great business opportunity—”

Anger boils up inside me, causing my fingers to tingle. “Get the hell out of here,” I snarl. I shoulder my way past him, spilling his mimosa onto the floor.

“Orson, all I need is the initial investment. We can both make a lot of money!”

I’m about to lose it, but I’ve got a day with my angel planned, and I don’t want to start things off with an altercation. So I lower my voice and get right up in his face.

“Chuck, I’m going to say this once,” I hiss. “So you fully understand. I am not interested in any of your investment opportunities. Got it?”

The poor guy looks like a deer in headlights. He opens his mouth to protest, but when he sees the look on my face, he quickly closes it again.

Some people might feel bad, but they don’t know him like I do. They don’t know how many people he’s scammed, how many women he’s preyed on. Frankly, this guy should thank his lucky stars every day he’s not behind bars.

“Fine, Orson,” he says, licking his teeth. “But don’t blame me when this bites you in the ass.”

I chuckle. “Don’t worry, Chuck. It won’t.”

I narrow my eyes at him, giving him the look—the one that all men understand. He twists his lips and stands there a moment, trying to act tough, but eventually he turns and walks out of the room. I follow him to the front door to make sure he gets the hell out of here. Only once his car is pulling out of the gate do I finally relax.

Now time to go wake up my princess.

My entire body is buzzing. I’ve only been away from her for a few minutes, but I’m dying to see her.

Jesus, what is happening to me? No woman has ever had a hold on me like this.

When I reach the stairs, I see Megan coming down, and every muscle in my body goes tight.

She’s wearing a tiny pair of white pajama shorts and a worn-out vintage T-shirt. It’s a five-dollar outfit, but she looks like a million bucks.

“You really did have my things brought over!” She sounds shocked. She doesn’t yet understand that there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her.

Her smile cuts right through me, touching that excitement I felt when we first met.

She’s the one. I don’t know how I know it, but I do.

“Put some shoes on,” I tell her. “I’m taking you out.”

She frowns, confused. So adorable.

“Out?” she asks. “It’s not even lunchtime. Where are we going?”

The look on Megan’s face when we pull up in front of Hasburg’s is priceless. She twists in her seat and gawks at me. “No, way. You are not taking me in there.”

Hasburg’s is the most expensive clothing store in the city, selling every famous designer brand, as well as the more exclusive ones.

“I’m not?” I chuckle, teasing her thigh with my fingers. Her skin is so soft, and my cock is already starting to swell as I touch her.
