“Me,” Diego replied, and then nodded over to Beau.“Or him.”

Jayla’s eyes jerked to Beau’s.“What? No, not you, too.”

“I’m afraid so, sweetness.”

She gave up.Jayla’s shoulders drooped a bit.Fatigue was pulling her down quickly.

“Can we fight later?I really do need to lie down.”

Diego instantly stood, startling a squeak out of her that made him smile again. He started to walk to the enormous bed that took up one-third of the cabin.

“No, wait. The bed’s too far from the fire, and I get cold very easily.”

Diego turned, then made his way to the chair and sat in it with her on his lap.

She pushed against his chest.“This is not what I had in mind, Diego.”

“Say that again.”

Jayla rolled her eyes.“This is no—”

“No, say my name.”

“Diego.Why?”

“I don’t know.I like the sound of it on your lips, I guess. Now let’s relax for a bit.You pooped me out.”

Jayla snorted out a laugh, not expecting something so cute coming out of this man’s mouth.A sigh escaped as she carefully settled against him.She was too tired to fight, and the heat rolling off him was better than any heated blanket she’d ever had.

Diego sensed Beau comeinto the room a few minutes later and sat on the sofa across from the fire and watched them. The back of Jayla’s head was to him, so he couldn’t see if she was sleeping or not.She unknowingly cuddled against Diego’s chest before lying still and relaxed.

She was the most stunning woman they’d ever met.Her waist-length black hair was beautiful. Her delicate features were stunning, but her eyes ...the crystal-clear blue was something he could look at forever.Add her curves, and she might just be the perfect woman in his thoughts.

Diego looked down at the sleeping woman on his lap, then up at his friend.“I don’t want to put her down.Isn’t that crazy?”He’d had an instantaneous attraction to her since she walked out of the bathroom. His body had hardened to a painful degree before his mind caught up.

He knew he was pushing her, probably too much, but that was his personality. His motto was,You just don’t know how long you have on this earth, so you need to grab as much happiness as you can, as fast as you can.

Beau settled deeper into the cushions. He stretched out his legs and crossed his ankles and then his arms over his chest.“No, I don’t.I’ve heard if you find the right woman, you just know.”

“You feel it, too, right?”

Beau chuckled.“Oh, yeah.I don’t think that woman is going to know what hit her.”

Several minutes went by in silence.

“What if she doesn’t want us, or the director tries to separate us?”Diego asked

Beau shrugged.“We’ll deal with whatever is thrown at us.Right now, let’s rest a bit, then I’ll scout around before we hunker down for the night.”

“You could hold her while I do that.”

“No, sit. You’re both relaxed. You can do it tomorrow,” Beau said before walking to the door.

“Hey,” Diego whispered loudly and smiled.

“What?”
