Billie stands still, her eyes glued to Finn’s hands as they slide up my dress all the way to my breasts, and tweak my nipples. Her mouth is half-open, and she looks like she’s in a daze.
“I think your friend’s lost her last brain cell,” comments Finn. “I’m glad I didn’t hack off your tits after all, baby. I like these. Maybe you’ll turn me into an breast man after all, huh?”
I roll my eyes. “Billie. Did you hear me?”
“Huh? What?” She blinks her eyes, then grows red. “Oh, sorry! Oh my gosh…” She squeezes her eyes shut in embarrassment. “I didn’t mean to… stare…”
“That’s alright,” Finn says. “I don’t mind.” He settles against the tree, one of his legs pinning me to his other one. Then I hear a loud rip.
“Motherfucker! That’s my Dior dress! What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“I just wanted to take it off.”
“So take it off, asshole! Don’t fucking rip it!”
“I’m gonna take her dress off now, Billie,” says Finn, looking entirely unbothered. “Might want to fuck off, now.”
“Finn! That’s not polite!”
“Okay, okay. Sorry!” Billie turns to go.
“Billie!” I call out. “Not by the gymnasium! The other way!”
“Right! Sorry. No sense of direction. Uhm…” She turns quickly on herself, then stumbles away in the opposite direction.
By now, Finn’s gotten me entirely undressed apart from my panties, and his hands have gone back to playing with my nipples. I sit back against him passively.
“You’re not being very responsive, baby,” he murmurs as he pinches and tweaks them.
“Yeah, well… I don’t have any fucks to give anymore.”
“Hmm?”
“You fucked everything up, Finn.” I let out a loud sigh. “And yes, I’m going to keep swearing, and I don’t give afuckwhat you do about it. I wasn’t able to kill you, or the next four people on my list, and you ripped my Dior dress. That was the last fuck I gave, Finn, and you ripped it. I guess I’ve just given up entirely.”
I allow myself to sag against his warm chest. This is the first time I’ve really relaxed in years, I suddenly realize. Sure, I’ve watched movies, gone shopping, eaten take-out, even slept—but I’ve never reallyrelaxed. I suddenly feel very calm.
But that’s what giving up feels like, right?
If so, it feels kind of nice. Especially with Finn’s fingers rubbing over my breasts.
“Maybe you’re not such a psychopath after all, baby.”
“I’m… not.” I stifle a yawn. “Just because I don’t care about anything or anyone other than the names on my list, doesn’t make me a psychopath.”
“It kind of does, actually.” He strokes under my breasts, caressing the stretch of sensitive skin. “But youdocare about something. You care about that girl—Billie.”
“Yeah, right. I just met her tonight.”
“Well, you saved her from getting abused, didn’t you? And you told her to stay away from the gym. How would you have felt if she’d been inside when the bomb had blown off?”
Hmm. Probably not that good.
“I’d have felt perfectly fine.”
“Don’t lie to me, you naughty girl.” He reaches up to pinchmy nipples, and I yelp. “You wouldn’t have liked it at all. “And you know who else you care about? Your Daddy.”
I scoff. “I don’t give a fuck about you, Finn. You’re crazy if you think—”
