Kuba rolled away. “Oh, God. What’s wrong with us?”

Diesel smiled so big, his cheeks hurt. “Neither of us has any patience.” The laughter in his voice couldn’t be missed.

Kuba’s eyes shone brightly with happiness. “Actually, I have a ton of patience. I think it’s just you.”

Diesel chuckled. “I actually have a ton of patience too. It’s just us.”

“Yeah. When you put us together, all bets are off.”

“Damn. I could really get addicted to this.” Diesel couldn’t believe he admitted that, and—for some reason—he kept going. “By this, I mean right now. The way you look at me and the happiness in your eyes. It’s a little insane how badly I don’t want that to go away.”

Kuba’s expression shifted. His eyes moved over Diesel’s face, as if searching for something. He looked exactly as he did when he focused on training. Intense. Determined. Breathtaking. “I just met you a few days ago.” Diesel’s heart dropped at Kuba’s words. Thankfully, Kuba kept going. “So tell me why I hate the idea of anyone else touching you. Tell me why I think I might smash shit if you decide you don’t want to share my room. Because I’ve been thinking about that kind of shit since we spent all night talking on Christmas Eve.”

They held each other’s stare. Diesel didn’t know how to answer those questions. His phone buzzed, knocking against the keys in the pocket of his jeans, sounding loudly throughout the otherwise quiet room.

Diesel glanced over his shoulder. “I should get that. No one calls unless it’s important.” He rolled, sat up, and reached for his jeans. Diesel found his phone. “It’s Clover.” He answered on speaker. “Hello?”

Fingertips slid down his back in the lightest of touches.

Diesel’s eyes automatically closed as goosebumps rose on his skin.

“Hey, Diesel. It’s Clover. There should be a crew already outside the warehouse. They’re ready to roll on that security system.”

“Sounds great. Thank you.”

“It’s no problem.” Clover sounded as upbeat and happy as always. “If I can help, I will. No one should have to live their life in fear.”

“Agreed. I’ll go meet up with the crew. Thanks again. Don’t give Saint too much hell.”

An evil-sounding chuckle vibrated from the device in his hand before the call disconnected. Diesel stood. The drops of cold cum that hadn’t dried ran down Diesel’s body. “I guess we need to get cleaned up.” He had avoided looking at Kuba since answering the phone. He wasn’t strong enough to see Kuba nude and watching him. Diesel chanced a glance. His eyes refused to budge when he saw exactly what he feared—a hungry-looking Kuba who tested his every will.

“There’s a linen closet in the bathroom.” Kuba’s words cut through the building desire.

Diesel tore his gaze away and headed for the bathroom. He would get clean, dressed, and outside with no distractions. Diesel chanted those words as he went through the motions. When he opened the door, washcloth in hand and ready to get Kuba clean, Kuba was already gone. His clothes weren’t on the floor. Diesel rolled his eyes. He knew damn well Kuba had gotten dressed and went to meet that crew. For fuck’s sake. The guyhad no sense of self-preservation. Diesel sighed and tossed the washcloth aside. He would save Kuba from himself if it was the last thing he did. Kuba was too important to him to stop.

Chapter Nine

Mom:Somuchhappenedyesterday, we didn’t really get to talk before you left. Tell me everything.

Diesel:LOL! Kuba’s trainer will be here in a couple of hours. I’ll call you once Kuba is on the mat.

Mom:Oh, this must be good if you have to wait until he’s not around.

Diesel:Oh yeah.

Kuba:Why is this guy laughing and saying he used to be Steel’s number one guy until you came along and stole his job?

Diesel:Who?Timber?

Kuba:Is that his name?

Diesel:Yeah, and he’s not lying. He actually thanked me for giving him a break. LOL.

Kuba:Look how in-demand my sexy man is.

Diesel:*rolling eyes*

Diesel:I forgot my water on that table next to the couch.
