He took in my appearance from head to toe, and my body cowered under his stare.
Something about him screamed danger, but I knew Kaden wouldn’t let anything happen to me.
“We’ll talk in my office,” Kaden instructed the man and he nodded, not tearing his eyes off me. I swallowed a tight ball of fear down my throat.
He entered the house, and right as he neared me Chase’s hand rested on my lower back.
“Don’t even think about it, De Luca,” he gave his head a slight shake.
De Lucastopped walking, looked up at Chase, then back at Kaden, and then down at me. Something clicked in his head.
“You know I don’t like my woman…” he trailed off, stepping forward as though he needed to find the right words but I knew he was pretending. “Submissive,” he finally said, holding eye contact with me.He knows? Is he one of their friends.
De Lucastepped past me and Chase and Kaden shared a look before Chase ushered me into the living room.
“Who was that?” I whispered up at him and he sat back on the couch, pulling me to his side.
“Kaden’s friend,” he vaguely answered.
“Well, he looks dangerous,” I shuddered, snuggling to Chase’s.side as my eyes fell back on the TV.
He simply kissed the top of my head.
TWENTY
CHASE
“Professor, hear me out,” Solace approached my desk and with a deep sigh I leaned back in my chair.
All my students had already cleared out my classroom but of course, she stayed behind.
Miss Allard was my brightest student, and because of that simple fact she purposely pushed boundaries to get her way.
“What if… you give me an extra day.”
“No,” I darted my eyes back to my laptop, continuing with my typing and she threw her hands in the air.
“Oh, come on!” she groaned and gripped the edge of my desk in front of me, leaning forward. “Please,” she dragged out every vowel. “For your favorite student? You know you want to,” she grinned.
“I don’t want to,” I kept my eyes on my screen.
Solace, along with almost ninety percent of my class, had been to focused on the days leading up to the celebratory party that their assignments were handed in late. That resulted in zeros. They were pissed.
“Look, Professor Madden…” she rounded my desk. “Chase? Can I call you Chase—”
“No,” I sternly cut her off and she stopped dead in her tracks, going back to standing in front of me.
“Right,” she nodded. “Professor Madden I am your best student. I show up to every class, I’m never late, andI get the highest grades every time. Trust me when I say I won’t hand any assignment in late again.”
With yet another heavy sigh I met her pleading gaze. “If I give you an extension will you keep it between us?”
“Yes,” she immediately blurted out. “Swear,” she placed her hand to her heart.
My tongue glided across my teeth and I nodded. “You have until tomorrow 9 a.m. when my class starts.”
“Thank you!” she cheered, running around my desk but when my eyes snapped to her in disapproval she jolted back. “Right! Can’t hug you,” she said as though she was thinking aloud and walked backward then whipped towards the door. “Won’t let you down!” she called out over her shoulder before disappearing and closing the door behind herself.
I merely shook my head.
