Kaden eliminated the space between us, making my heart flutter. “We did, didn’t we?”

The question sounded rhetorical, but I answered nonetheless. “Yeah.”

Goosebumps trailed along every inch of my skin as I inhaled his addictive scent. The warmth radiating off his body was enough to make my insides melt. I swallowed hard, not missing the way his eyes fixated on my lips.

I wanted to lean in, but I knew better than to touch him without his permission. So, I simply fisted my hands at my sides, digging my nails into my palms.

I could tell he picked up on the subtle gesture, because he gently brushed a few stray strands of hair behind my ear, and trailed his fingertips down my jawline to hold my chin with his fingers.

“You remembered.”

I simply nodded in response.

His touch alone asserted dominance. It left me craving for more—desperately.

His hands gripped my waist as he effortlessly lifted me onto the countertop. He slipped between my legs and I sucked in a quick breath.

Kaden was so handsome it hurt to look at him. Sharp, chiseled jawline, full lips that pushed me off the cliff of temptation, and worst—best—of all, his eyes. Eyes that lured you in until there was no escape. Eyes you’d sell your soul to get lost in forever.

He didn’t have to speak, and neither did I. But, we didn’t have to.

Steadily, he cupped the side of my face in the palm of his warm—rough— hand. His voice was husky, settling in my core. “You afraid of me?”

I swallowed hard, nodding.I was.“Yes.”

He gently turned my face, and lowered his lips to my ear. “Nyama zashto da se strakhuvash ot men, malkiya.”

My eyes widened and I pulled back, looking him in the eyes. His words echoed in my head, and after the fact that he spoke my language settled in, his words resonated with me.

Both of my hands flew to my mouth, hiding a ridiculously happy smile. There’s no way.

I couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped my lips as I leaned forward, throwing my arms around his neck. “I can’t believe it!” I squealed, squeezing him in my arms. I pulled back to look at him, unable to mask my pure excitement.

Besides my mother, I didn’t have anyone to speak the language with. “Oh, Kaden!” I beamed, going back in to hug him while squeezing my eyes shut in excitement.

His arms wrapped around me too, and I could feel them tighten around my lower back as he tugged me the tiniest bit closer.

This was incredible! My mom was the only person in my life who spoke the language. Not even my father made the effort to learn it for either of us. And now, I have Kaden too.

My blood ran cold. I immediately pulled back, letting go of him entirely as I covered my mouth.

“I’m sorry— Kaden, I—”

He cut me off by shaking his head, and pulled my hands down from my face. His large hands swallowed mine.

“Does the hug mean you’re less afraid of me now?” he asked and with my racing heart, I lowered my eyes to his hands thatheld mine. Internally, I swooned at the fact that this strong, intimidating and handsome man was doing something as simple asholding my hand.

My reply was reluctantly playful. “Maybe.”

He let go of my hands, grabbing my face. “Dostatuchno dobur.”Good enough?

My mind latched onto his words before his lips came crashing down onto mine.

Instantly, I melted into his kiss. His lips were soft, and his grip on my face turned firm as I leaned into the kiss.Fireworks.

My racing heart slowed to a steady pace as pure bliss fell over me.

The moment his tongue slid into my mouth, it felt like a collision of butterflies and goosebumps.
