“You’re both insane,” I murmured, shaking my head and they broke out in a smile.

“Oh, Logan, you’re just so handsome with your big strong muscles, and your long skinny fingers, oh Logan!” Daisy groaned, placing the back of her four fingers against her forehead.

“Please, touch me, and kiss me, and fuck me, and do unholy things to me, Logan,” Solace added, making kissing noises.

My eyes continuously ping ponged between the two of them in disbelief and confusion. “Are you both high? Where is this coming from?”

Solace chuckled. “Oh, please. As if Mr. Grumpy pants’ mood didn’t brighten up after you walked into class,” she crossed her arms over her chest.

“Yeah, and after Solace and I talked to him at the Halloween party, we for sure thought something would happen.”

“You what!?” I blurted out.

Solace smacked Daisy’s arm in disapproval, and Daisy’s hand flew straight to her mouth in regret.

“Now, before you get mad, D,” Solace began with a slight tremble of fear in her voice. “Daisy and I were just trying to help. It wasn’t planned, I swear. We kinda just saw him and… well, things happen.”

“Things happen?” I could almost laugh. “What exactly did you two say to him?”

“That he needed to be careful with you,” Daisy answered.

“And if he tried taking you down with him we’d ruin his career,” Solace added.

“Oh, my God…” I trailed off. “Why would you— nothing is going on between Professor Hale and I, okay?”I didn’t want to lie. But I had to. I couldn’t risk Logan getting into some serious shit because of me.

“Where are you going?” Daisy asked as I got up, swinging my bag over my shoulder.

“Class,” I vaguely answered, rounding the table to kiss her cheek. “Then to Professor Hale to apologize for my two nosey best friends,” I added with a kiss to Solace’s cheek as well but she grabbed my wrist.

“You know we’re only looking out for you, right?”

I smiled with a nod. “I know, Lacey. But nothing…” I paused, meeting their gazes individually. “Is going on between professor Hale and me. Got it?”

“Okay,” Daisy nodded, and so did Solace.

DAKOTA

It had been a dreadfully long two days of being on campus and avoiding Logan as much as possible.

I contemplated skipping both his lessons, but I couldn’t let him have so much power over me. So, I settled for not sparing him a single glance instead. He simply didn’t exist.

After talking to both Daisy and Solace I stopped outside of Logan’s classroom with the intention of apologizing, but decided otherwise. What difference did it make? To him we were clearly over.

After today’s class I slipped into the library and not even ten minutes later Trey, the guy Logan caught me making out with at the Halloween party, slipped into the seat beside me.

“Hey mama,” he grinned, leaning over to kiss my cheek.

“Trey,” I hid a smile, continuing to read the page in front of me before making a note.

“I still haven’t forgiven you,” he rested his arm on the back of my chair.

My brows pinched together and I looked up to see brown eyes staring back at me. Trey was handsome. Breathtakingly so. Dark skin, black hair, chiseled jawline with soft full lips and thick long eyelashes that I was utterly jealous of. And, for the longest time, I thought he was the most handsome man I’d evercome across. That is, until an asshole of a professor walked into my life along with his two best friends.

“The party,” he explained and it dawned on me. After the kiss I told him to follow me, and when we stepped inside, I ended up saying that I needed to go to the bathroom and I’d find him soon. Obviously, I didn’t find him.

“I’ll make it up to you,” I offered a genuine smile and got back to studying.
