And to think I thought this man was hot.
Sure, he can rock an Armani suit. But it turns out, good cheekbones and a tight ass will only get you so far, because Cormac Sullivan is a grade-A asshole.
I have a feeling he's going to make my life hell, but I'm not going to crack. I might be severely underqualified for this role, but what I lack in skills, I make up for in sheer stubbornness.
When the clock hits five, I start packing up my things. If I'm expected in at seven tomorrow, I want to make sure I get home at a reasonable time and try to eat a proper dinner that doesn't involve a takeout box.
I'm mentally planning what I could make from the few basic ingredients I keep in the pantry when Cormac decides to make an appearance just as I'm slipping off my heels and pulling my sneakers out of my bag.
He throws open the door without so much as knocking to find me with my foot up on the coffee table and my skirt ridden up to the point where my entire thigh is on show.
His eyes flicker from my shoes to my thigh and back again, and I try not to visibly cower at the thunderous expression on his face.
"What are you doing?"
"Uh... Going for a run?" I joke as I straighten.
"I need you to compile the summaries from these board reports." He tosses another folder on the table.
"Now?" I stand straight and try to subtly pull down my skirt.
Cormac's eyes darken as he watches me, and my stomach sinks.
Today just keeps getting better and better.
"I'll get right on that."
"You do that."
He slams the door shut, and I release a breath.
I guess I'm eating dinner at my desk tonight.
I step off the elevator at five to seven the next morning, bleary-eyed and heavy-limbed.
The office floor is completely empty, which doesn't surprise me. Though what does is the fact that as I pass Cormac's office on the way to my own, I find the light is off.
The bastard isn't even here.
"You have got to be kidding me."
There is no sign of Cormac until almost nine when I catch him walking past my office, but, of course, he doesn't stop by to say hello. So, I'm left seething and plotting all the ways I couldmurder him slowly with a box of paperclips for the rest of the morning.
I'm sitting at my desk, picking through a sad-looking tuna salad sandwich that I picked up from the cafeteria when Cormac finally decides to come and acknowledge my presence.
Of course, he doesn't bother knocking. He just throws open the door and immediately scowls. "Do you know how to use a calendar as well as a clock?"
My jaw aches from clenching it so hard.
This guy really needs to work on his people skills.
I smile. "Yes."
"Let's hope so, because I need you to reschedule all of my meetings this afternoon to Friday."
"Friday..."
"As in the day that comes after Thursday."
