My search yields a pot of pasta sauce, and with a shrug, I decide to whip up a quick dinner.
As I stand in the kitchen, stirring the boiling pasta, my phone dings with a text from Lilly. She’s stillworried about the party she dragged me to. She’d called me earlier today, and I’d told her the whole story about how Jason led me upstairs but then backed away when I told him no and how Carson found me shortly after Jason left.
I didn’t spare her the details about Adrian’s arrival, either. It seems like she’s still worried I might be upset over it. I type out a quick reply and fetch a spoon. The pasta sauce on the stove begins to bubble, so I know it’s time to turn off the heat. I scoop a little with the spoon and bring it to my mouth. Delicious.
Suddenly, a prickling sensation runs down my spine, and I instinctively turn around, almost colliding with Adrian’s towering mass of muscle. He swiftly catches my wrist, preventing the spoon in my hand from hitting him. His amused smirk sends a flutter through my chest as I meet his gaze, mischief twinkling in his eyes.
“Good evening,” he murmurs, his voice smooth as silk.
“Hi,” I respond, my voice slightly breathless as he pulls me closer. “I’m making pasta,” I blurt out, trying to steady my racingheart.
“I can see.” He chuckles, glancing over my shoulder before focusing back on me. “I’m home a little early, my dinner meeting was cancelled.” His touch lingers on my skin as he releases my wrist, and his eyes soften.
“You’re actually right on time,” I assure him, feeling warmth spread through me despite my nerves.
“Am I?” He raises an eyebrow, intrigued.
“Mhmm.” I nod, creating some space between us so he can see the stove better. “The pasta is almost ready. But I don’t want to eat in the dining room tonight.”
“No? And where would you like to eat?” His amusement dances in his eyes as he crosses his arms.
“I think it’s time to call in my favor.”
Chapter nineteen
~ADRIAN~
“You want to eat on the couch and watch a movie?” I raise my brows. This is certainly not what I expected to hear.
She nods eagerly. “I doubt you’ve ever had dinner in your living room.”
“I’ve never done it,” I admit with a chuckle.
“Which is exactly why we’re doing it. I promise not to get your precious couch dirty.”
“Too bad.” I shorten the distance between us again. “Because that’s exactly what you did last time and precisely what I want you to do again.”
Her lips part just as her cheeks turn that rosy shade I’m used to. Memories of her flood my mind; her headthrown back in pleasure, the gasp of air she took right before she fell apart under me, the way she locked her legs around the small of my waist. And just like that, my cock presses against my pants, begging to be let out. Her chest rises and falls faster and faster as if the same memories are now dancing through her mind as well. My lips curl up, and I will myself to step away.
“What movie are we watching?” I ask her as I take out two plates from the cabinet. I turn and place them on the kitchen island, looking at her expectantly.
“I don’t know.” She takes a few seconds to reply. “I didn’t think that far ahead.” Her voice is breathy, and her cheeks remain rosy pink. I want to see other cheeks turn rosy under my hand.
“What are you in the mood for?” I ask her casually as I lift a single spaghetti to my mouth and try it. “It’s ready.”
“Horror movies,” she replies as I turn off the heat.
“The girl who sleeps with a nightlight wants to watch a horror movie?” I raise a brow as I take the pot of pasta off the stove.
“I hoped I wouldn’t be sleeping alone,” she whispers, and I still. She expects me to sleep next to her. This is what you signed up for when you told her all that nonsense in the elevator. It wasn’t nonsense, though. Not a single fucking word.
I carefully drain the water and leave the pot on the counter before turning towards her. She giggles and rests a hand on the island.
“Is something funny?” I ask, bringing the two plates closer so I can put the pasta in.
“Yes, you. You’re cooking in a suit. It made me think of that time you made grilled cheese in a tuxedo.” Another giggle escapes from her, and the corners of my lips rise.
“The things I do for you.” My smile grows wider, and I take a step towards her.
