“I sincerely doubt it. She’ll be happier with someone more traditional. I’ve always suspected that she wasn’t any more enthusiastic about our pairing than I was.”

“That’s good. I don’t have to feel guilty about keeping you as mine.”

“Not at all. By the way, have you spoken with Cassie and Lowri since you resigned?”

“I have. They’re doing great. Fortunately, they were only spending part of their summer at the firm in LA. For the next week, Cassie is vacationing with her parents. Then she and Lowri will be interns at a law firm in San Diego for the rest of the summer. I’m glad they had already planned to change firms mid-summer. This way they won’t have to deal with the awkward aftermath of Mr. Barclay and Justin’s arrests.”

“That’s a relief.”

“Yes, but it’s too bad they didn’t get to meet your two friends while they were in town. It would have been fun for us all to hang out together.”

“It would have. Sean and Evan are traveling quite a bit now, but there will probably be another chance ...”
