I raised his hand to mylips, kissing the knuckles.

“Careful what you wish for.”I smiled, reaching out one-handed to put a piece of the puzzle in place.

“How did youdothat?” Logan said, distracted now.

I shrugged.

“He’s always done that,”Grandma said, still focused on the puzzle.

There was a smile playingaround her lips, though. She was happy for us.

“I like this eyeshadow,”Logan said, leaning close to get a good look at my eyes. I let them fall closedand tilted my head side to side so he could watch the colors shift.

He hadn’toncetold me to takeit off. Not in the entire time we’d known each other.

“Is that the new one youwere showing me?”

He even paid attention. Aswarm of butterflies rose up in my stomach justthinkingabout it.

“It’s that with a dusting ofthat pearl powder I picked up on sale after Christmas. You remember?”

Logan snorted. “I remember youbuying a case because it was down to ten cents, me saying it’d be enough tolast a lifetime, and you laughing all the way to the register.”

“We have to look for morenext year,” I said.

Confidence that there wouldbea next year welled up in my chest, warm and soft. That was all I wanted. Allthe years with Logan that I could possibly have.

I might not have had anyplans yet, but if Logan wasn’treallyquick in asking me to marry him, I’d do the askingfirst.
