Walking over to Trace, Coop stopped directly in front of him. “You fought for Ems, and you had our backs when we needed it most. You can watch my six any day of the week, and I’ll always have yours.” He held out his hand, which Trace accepted. “But you hurt my sister”—Coop’s grip tightened—“I’ll shoot your ass.”

He gave his future brother-in-law a solemn nod. “Understood.”

It was an easy promise to make, but Coop didn’t need to worry. If he ever hurt Emma, Trace would hand Coop the gun, himself.

Three months later, he was standing in the bedroom of his new apartment in Richmond. One he and Emma had chosen together.

Staring down at the small, velvet box, he thought of the plans he’d begun putting into motion. The proposal he’d envisioned was still a few weeks away, but only because he wanted it to be perfect.

Just like the woman he was going to marry.

Emma’s strength and character still continued to amaze him, and he fell in love with her more with each day that passed.

Despite everything she’d been through, Emma had jumped into her role as Charlie Team’s office manager with both feet. She was efficient, professional, and best of all, she got along great with his team.

The nightmares still came on occasion. Something her therapist had warned them about. But each time Emma woke in a panic, he was there. Ready to hold her, loveher, and help her replace those awful memories with new ones they made...together.

As for Trace, training with his new team—a group of men he was proud to call his teammates—was complete. R.I.S.C.’s Richmond office had gotten off the ground running, and for the first time in a long time, he felt as if he had a purpose.

Both personally and professionally.

“Hey, Trace!” Emma’s sweet voice called for him from the living room. “The movie’s about to start.”

Warmth filtered through him as he made his way down the hall to the woman he couldn’t imagine living without.

To some, theirs was a love that formed too quickly. But as Trace settled on the couch beside her, he thought about the stories of how Jake and the other men of Alpha Team had overcome insurmountable odds to find their happily ever afters.

Their incredible tales of danger, pain, and undying love reminded him that everyone’s story was different. And in that moment, with Emma tucked snugly against him, Trace couldn’t wait for the rest oftheirstory to be written.
