“Are you not going upstairs with your friends?” he asks, and I shake my head.
Silence fills the air between us, and before I talk myself out of it, I step closer, running my hand up his chest as I rise up on my tiptoes. Mac’s at least a foot taller than me, so I can’t reach on my own, but thankfully he helps close the distance. His lips meet mine, and I melt into him. His free arm wraps around my waist, pulling me flush against him.
The kiss is exploratory. Mac takes control, and a ridiculous sound leaves me, causing my cheeks to heat, but he only keeps kissing me. By the time we break apart, we’re both breathless.
“That was...” he starts as I say, “Wow.”
We both chuckle.
“I was going to say unexpected, but that works too.”
My eyes flutter closed as I roll my lips together. I can’t believe I just did that. I’ve never initiated a kiss with someone. No one has ever made me feel like I needed to kiss them, but I’ve been thinking about kissing Mac for longer than I’d like to admit.
We stand like that, close, with Mac’s arm around my waist as we stare at each other for a few minutes before I finally say, “Walk me to my car.”
He nods, and as we separate, he links his fingers with mine. Butterflies take off in my stomach, and I have to remind myself that there’s no feelings in this for Mac. For him, this is strictly a deal. When we get to my car I ask, “Are you free tomorrow night?”
“I am.”
I bite my lip. “Can we... Would you... Can we maybe take this to more than just a kiss? You know, my side of this deal.”
Mac stares at me for a few seconds before he stands straighter and nods. “Yes. If that’s what you’d like.”
“I would.”
“I can come over tomorrow night, if you’re comfortable with that. Say half past seven?”
I smile. “Yeah, that works for me.”
He nods again and then leans down and brushes his lips over mine, leaving me chasing him for more, but he doesn’t give it. I unlock my car and drive away.
The second I’m in my apartment, I drop my purse and have a mini freak out. Not only did I kiss Mac tonight, but I pretty much asked him to fuck me tomorrow. I’ve never been this brazen when it comes to sex, and it felt invigorating. I feel like I could do anything right now.
The high I experienced by taking charge doesn’t last long, though, and I start freaking out. What the hell did I just do? I invited Mac over to my place tomorrow, basically begging him to fuck me. I know this was all part of our deal, but the reality of making the deal versus putting it into action is now starting to hit me like a freight train.
Tomorrow night, Mac will be in my bedroom. He’ll see me in a way no man has before. What am I going to wear for when he gets here? What have I gotten myself into?
CHAPTER 13
Mac
I’ve never experienced anticipation like I am right now. Eliza is unlike anyone I’ve spent time with before. Watching her be open and engaging with her friends to shy with me and then breaking out of that when she kissed me has me even more intrigued by her. My only hope is that I can quench my curiosity over the next six months before the end of this arrangement when we’ll part ways and she’ll find someone who can give her the life she’s looking for.
The second Eliza opens her front door on Saturday, I feel anxiety and anticipation radiating off her. Her smile isn’t the usual bright one she offers her friends, or the soft and friendly one she usually gives me. It’s a mask hiding everything that’s going on in her mind.
She opens the door wider giving me space to step in, and I kiss her cheek as I pass her. I suppress my grin at the way she blushes just like she has been for the past few weeks when I’ve done the exact same thing. When she closes the door, she clasps her hands in front of herself as she turns to face me. I take in what she’s wearing, a casual but flattering dress that hugsher curves and leaves enough to the imagination that I want to slowly drag it off her to expose every inch of her skin. The thought alone as me growing hard in my trousers.
I clear my throat and step closer to the living room. “How about a movie?” I ask.
I look over my shoulder at her and her hands have stopped their fidgeting. She’s staring at me like she’s losing her mind.
“A movie?” she almost squeaks.
I nod. “I’m sure we can find something we’ll both enjoy.”
“A movie,” she whispers under her breath and then looks down at her dress, pulling at a section around her hips and shaking her head.
I sit on the couch and hold my hand out. “Come join me.”
