I honestly can’t ask for more than that.

Iknew it.
I knew it was a mistake to allow Brady that chocolate bar after dinner, but I caved as soon as he started looking at me with those puppy dog eyes.
Now he’s bouncing off the walls as I try to wrangle him into the bathroom.
It doesn’t help that Noodle takes her cues from Brady and now has the zoomies. She sprints around the apartment, yipping as she goes.
I finally catch Brady when he crawls under the dining table in the kitchen. I reach under and snatch his ankle just before he escapes out the other side.
I drag him out from under the table while he cackles the whole time. I can’t help myself from laughing as well. That’s probably not the right reaction, because all it’s doing is encouraging him.
With Brady under my arm, I walk into the bathroom. I start running the bath, then peel off his clothes until I have my naked son wriggling in my arms.
He seems to settle down once I plop him in the tub, but I’m pretty sure it’s only because he’s distracted by his bath toys.
I lather up his loofah and hand it to him. When he takes it from me, he says, “Mom, why don’t we live with Dad?”
Well, that came out of nowhere.
“Why do you ask?”
“Because all my friends live with both their parents, but me and you live here and Dad lives at his place.”
I hadn’t been expecting this question. If I had, I probably would’ve prepared an answer. As it is, I’m flying by the seat of my pants.
“Well, honey, we don’t live with your dad because your dad and I aren’t married.”
“So we will live with Dad when you get married?” he asks expectantly.
“Yeah,” I answer, desperate to end this conversation.
“When are you getting married?”
My goodness… All these questions…
“I don’t know if we ever will. And you know, it’s not all moms and dads that are married to each other. Families can look all kinds of ways. Sometimes the parents are married, sometimes they aren’t.”
He looks thoughtful as he says, “But I don’t understand.”
“What don’t you understand?”
“Why you and Dad aren’t already married. You love each other.”
“Yes, we do but that doesn’t mean we have to get married. I mean, I love you. Should I marry you?”
I tickle under his arms and he laughs.
“It’s not the same. You and Dad have the kind of love where you kiss.” He makes Kissy faces. “That’s what Drew’s parents do, and they’re married. So shouldn’t you and Dad be married?”
So much for Adam and I keeping our relationship a secret from Brady. “How do you know your dad and I kiss?”
“I’ve seen you, silly.” He giggles.
