“Promises, promises.”She tsked, sounding doubtful.
“You should know by now, I always deliver on my promise.”He turned on his side to face her.
June’s soft gaze looked at him with such love.“I do.”
He took her hand and kissed each knuckle.“Thank you for forgiving me and giving me another chance.”
“Just don’t ever make me doubt you again,” she told him with a warning tone.
“Never.Though I should warn you, while I was willing to retreat and give you time, I wasn’t willing to give up on us.I would have hounded you until you forgave me.”
“Good to know.”
“I promise, no more secrets outside of the ones I have to keep for work.”That was something he couldn’t budge on, but given what her brother did, she was used to the secrets that came with the job.
“Deal. You should also know that I won’t share more about my brother. The less people know, the better,” she said gravely.
“I understand he will not be a subject of conversation.”He could respect that.
“Good, though you should prepare yourself to see him again next month.”
“Oh yeah, and why is that?”
“He and Cora are finally getting married.”
“And I’m invited?”He was flattered and shocked. He didn’t think Liam liked him that much. They hadn’t exactly gotten off on the best foot.
“You’re expected to be there,” she corrected.
“I can’t wait.I have something I want to ask your brother anyway.”
“What?”She looked puzzled.
“You’ll just have to wait and find out,” was all he said before kissing her.He wanted it to be a surprise when he proposed to her.It may be fast to ask her to marry him after only being together for two months, but when you found the person you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, why wait?
“I do love surprises.”At least she was starting too.
“Then you’ll love this next one,” he assured, climbing over her, ready to go again but this time slower.
“I love you, Rob.”
“I love you, June.”
No other words were spoken for the rest of the night. They let their bodies do the talking.
