“It can wait until I’m finished with you.”

There was that tone of voice again. The tone that left no room for argument and also traveled straight to her core even though she was still coming down from one of the best orgasms she’d ever had.

The phone started ringing again. Groaning, he finished rinsing her hair before moving aside so she could step out of the shower. She wrapped herself in a towel and hurried out of the bathroom, leaving wet footprints behind her. Her brother’s name lit up across the screen as the phone started ringing for a third time.

“Hello?” she answered, concern outweighing her annoyance.

“Hey, sis,” Michael responded. “Or I guess I should say, Aunt Mallory.”

“What?!” she shouted, running back into the bathroom where Christian was finishing his shower. “Say that again. You’re on speaker.”

“Aunt Mallory, and I’m assuming, Uncle Chris. Samantha Rae Hunt was born at 21:37. Six pounds, twelve ounces. We would have called you to be here, but we barely made it to the hospital before she was born.”

“Repeat the name?” Mallory asked, certain she hadn’t heard him correctly.

“Samantha Rae. And everyone is doing great.”

If that wasn’t the statement that summed everything up. She had her guy. She had her family. She had her house. She had all the things she’d convinced herself she’d never have. And now she was an auntie to a little one who had been named after both her mother and her. Tears stung her eyes and began to run down her face just as Christian, still wet from the shower, wrapped his arms around her and wiped them away. Everyonewasdoing great.
