For now, she could only pray Celise did minimal harm with her newfound power. But one thing was certain. Their troubles were far from over. Dark days loomed ahead. Peri didn’t know which was worse: the deranged sprite or the hybrid wolves with the ability to turn others in mere minutes.

“What?”

“Cain can die, Nissa.” Peri said in a rush as the air whipped out of her lungs.

“Well, that’s the outcome we all eventually hope for.”

“No, I mean the sire bond. Dammit, how dense am I?”

“Am I supposed to answer that?”

“Alice and Lizzy shouldn’t be held to it. If the hybrids liveevenafter the one who sired them dies, then they aren’t bound to Cain. Finally, some bloody good news!” she practically shouted to the heavens.

“So I guess we’re going on a hunt?”

“Let’s get my mate,” Peri told Nissa, her lips turning up into a wicked smile. “I think Jen would appreciate Cain’s head to add to her collection.”

“Do you think it’s wise to encourage her newfound hobby?” Nissa joked.

Peri scoffed. “If she doesn’t want it, I’ll mount it on a spike in the yard of the Romania pack mansion. It will be a warning to all that we do not play. Screw with one of us, screw with all of us.” Peri knew that her anger wasn’t fully because of Cain, but he got to be the bastard who would endure all of her wrath. Lucky guy.
