When Rain reached me, I scented him deeply. It was faint, very faint, and it hadn’t been there this morning, but sure enough, my mate was pregnant.
“Mate, Archie’s right. You’re pregnant,” I whispered in his ear.
“I’m pregnant!” Unlike me, my mate shouted it, and we were instantly surrounded by our friends all congratulating us on our growing family.
The party wound down, and the three of us sat on the glider, watching the sun set. Olivia less watching and more sleeping.
“This was a perfect day.” Rain rested his head on my shoulder.
“It really was. I felt bad for Archie though. He was embarrassed for scenting your pregnancy and then announcing it like that.”
“I’m glad he did. We’d have wanted to tell everyone anyway, and what a better place to get such fabulous news than surrounded by the people who love us.”
I couldn’t agree more.
