“Just once I wish you’d get jealous,” Eli smarted with a smirk. “For even just a second.”

I snorted and waved him off, “I was more worried about my poor ceiling.”

Both of them scoffed at me with mild outrage before I soothed it, giving them the news I came home to share with them.

“But we’re not going to be able to enjoy your dirty little swing for a while.” I sighed as if it were a big disappointment.

“Why?” Frankie raised her head to look at me with a scowl. “What did you do?”

I shrugged as if it were no big deal. “Booked us a vacation in Italy for two weeks.”

They both jumped up to their knees in utter shock and excitement. “I’m sorry, excuse you, what?” Eli barked. “How the?—”

“Well, that’s a lie.” I sat up, “It’s a week in Italy. And then a week on the French Island of Corsica.”

“Oh, my God!” Frankie screamed, shaking her head back and forth. “Wait! The office! And the kids! And?—”

“All taken care of.” I said, cutting her off before kissing her deeply. “The office will go on without us because you run such a great team. And the kids are going to have a blast exploring a foreign country or two with us. And Grandma Blake is going to be the best babysitter to entertain the kids at night while I do all the dirty and depraved I have planned for you both while we’re there.”

“Jesus,” Eli sighed with a smile on his face as he threw himself back down on the pillow next to me. “You really do always take care of everything.”

“I take care of you.” I corrected, kissing him. “Happy anniversary, Husband.” Turning to Frankie, she kissed me eagerly, with an excited smile on her face. “Happy anniversary, Wife.”

“And to think,” She murmured sweetly against my lips. “Years ago, I almost let a sexy, smile-happy firefighter take me home after I had a meltdown in the middle of the hockey rink thanks to my crazy kids.” She turned to Eli, and he beamed at her warmly, “But he kissed me senseless and then pushed me at his best friend and said something powerful that started it all.”

“What did he say?” I asked, trying to remember every detail from the night we both first kissed Frankie.

“Think of me when you kiss him goodnight.”Eli replied with a smirk. “And what a wild ride it’s been since then.”

The End.
