Haruka responded by lifting Eli up and wearing him like the front-facing backpack he’d heard Eli thinking about earlier.

“This is better.” Eli said, and he burrowed into Haruka as he took the path through the woods to their house.

“I’ll keep you warm.” And covered. Both were important.

“Are you really going to carry me all the way home? It’s kind of far.”

Haruka dropped a kiss on top of Eli’s head. “Chibisuke, I could carry you forever.”
