This wasn’t going to be the next blockbuster. It probably wasn’t going to make millions. But then again, Nick hadn’t wanted it to. He just wanted it to feel real and be loved.
I moved in when it looked like he was taking a moment of pause. I wasn’t sure how long it would be but I wanted to catch him quick before he jumped into whatever was next.
“Hey,” I whispered into his ear from behind.
He sucked in an excited gasp as he turned around.
The smile that lit up his face at seeing me was everything.
I held him tight as he tossed his arms around my neck and kissed me like there was no tomorrow.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I wanted to come see you work.” I lowered my lips next to his ear. “It’s really fucking hot to watch you like that.”
“Fuck,” he breathed out and though I wasn’t looking at his face, I knew his eyes had rolled back into his head. “You can’t do this to me here.”
He was right and I felt a little bad about the situation I’d just put him in. We wouldn’t be breaking apart for a moment unless I wanted everyone to know.
“Marry me.” The words slipped right on out. That wasn’t to say that I hadn’t been thinking them for a long time, though.
Another shocked gasp hit my ears.
I pulled away and dropped down to my knee. I had a ring, see, I really had been thinking about it hardcore. I was just… waiting for the right moment I guess.
“Spend forever with me,” I said as I looked up at him.
Everything went silent around us and I wasn’t sure if it was in my head or not.
His head bobbed up and down but nothing came out of his hanging-open-in-shock mouth.
“Is that a yes? I kind of need to hear you say it,” I said repeating the words he said to me often. You know, those times when I would avoid answering just to mess with him. Or, hell, wouldn’t say anything at all but the answer would be written all over my face.
“Yes! Fuck yes! Oh, my God. Get up!” he yelled.
Suddenly, claps and whistles filled the air around us.
I slipped the ring on to Nick’s waiting and shaking finger.
“I love you,” he said as he wrapped his arms around me again. “But I’m going to kill you for doing this here.”
I laughed for a long moment.
He wouldn’t kill me.
He loved me… everyone heard him say it.
“Shut up,” I said as I lowered my head down to meet his lips. “You secretly loved it.”
Then I kissed him before he could even think to argue with me.
The End
