“I… I don’t know how to… say it,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

He tilted his head slightly, a mixture of curiosity and concern deepening the lines of his face. “Whatever it is, I promise you can share it with me,” he said gently, extending a hand and brushing my hair back from my forehead. The warmth of his touch sent ripples through my consciousness, distracting from the overwhelming storm of emotions swirling inside.

“I’m pregnant,” I blurted out, the words tumbling from my lips almost before I had a chance to process them.

Rocco froze for a heartbeat, his eyes widening slightly. Then slowly, a soft, incredulous smile tugged at his lips. “Pregnant?”

I nodded, cheeks burning, the weight of the revelation settling heavily in the air between us. My heart raced, half in fear of his reaction, half in joy at the prospect of what this could mean for us.

“Wow,” he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper, the disbelief hanging on every syllable. “You’re serious?”

I nodded again, his features morphing into a mix of surprise and something deeper—something tender that made my heart leap. “This is… wow. This is amazing,” he finally said, the smile spreading wider across his face, illuminating the room with warmth.

“Really?” I asked, unable to hide the tremor in my voice.

“Really,” he confirmed, his hand still brushing through my hair, an intimate gesture that ignited a spark of hope in my chest. “I just can’t believe you told your stuffed animal before me,” he added teasingly.

As Rocco’s teasing words hung in the air, a nervous giggle bubbled up from deep within me, breaking the tension that had gripped the room moments before. His gentle humor was like a balm to my anxious soul, easing the weight of the confession I had just made.

I couldn’t help but playfully swat at his arm, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. “Hey, Giuseppe is a great listener!” I defended my plush companion, feeling a sense of relief wash over me at Rocco’s lighthearted response.

As the initial shock of my revelation settled, a sense of calm descended upon us. Rocco’s hand found mine, the connection grounding me in the moment. The weight of his support and the promise of his joy filled me with a sense of peace and contentment that I hadn’t known was possible.

“I can’t wait to embark on this journey with you,” Rocco said, his gaze unwavering, filled with love and determination. “We’ll figure it out together, every step of the way.”

Tears welled up in my eyes, but this time they were tears of gratitude and happiness. I leaned into Rocco’s embrace, feeling the warmth of his love wrap around me like a protective shield.

I smiled through my tears, letting out a soft laugh. “Me too,” I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion.

He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead, and for a moment, the world outside the room seemed to vanish. Just the two of us, holding onto each other and the promise of what was to come.

I glanced down at Giuseppe, still tucked under my arm, and gave him a little squeeze. “Looks like you’ve got a big role to play too,” I murmured, earning a warm chuckle from Rocco.

“Don’t worry,” he said, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “We’ll all figure it out… together.”

And in that quiet, sunlit room, with love and hope surrounding us, I felt an unshakable certainty: whatever came next, Rocco and I would face it as one.
